Obsession and Madness is the 58th main mission in Crimson Desert, found in the Hernand region at the Scholastone Institute. It is part of Chapter 4 – The Price of Knowledge, under the sub-chapter Forbidden Knowledge. You must have finished the previous main quest, Spire of the Stars, to begin. The quest rewards you with +8 Contribution Levels to the Hernandian faction. The quest description states: "This place appears to be connected to the rift that swallowed Octavius. He may still be alive. Search the area for any sign of him." The objectives are to Investigate the Abyss and Find the one responsible for the rift.
To investigate the Abyss, enter the Abyss Rift on the top floor of the Spire of the Stars. You will arrive in the Abyss in the sky.
To find the one responsible for the rift, follow the marker in the sky. Stand on the fast travel point (floor plate) directly in front of where you entered the Abyss. If you fall, you can press (Square / X / Left Click) on the map to switch to the sky map and travel back. Navigate to the target by going up tall pillars. The easiest method is to jump and use Force Palm (Triangle / Y / E) 3 times in a row to catapult yourself up, then fly over to the pillar. After landing on the first platform, use Force Palm 3 more times in midair to fly to the big main platform. There, jump over the yellow glowing mechanism on the floor and use Force Palm in midair to activate it, triggering a cutscene that ends the quest.
The secret mechanic for this quest is using Force Palm 3 times consecutively for climbing and navigation. Force Palm consumes Spirit, which can be recharged by holding L3 / LS / Shift + Circle / B / Space.
Alternatively, you can climb the pillars if you have sufficient Stamina points, or use the Double Jump skill (green skill tree with Kliff) for extra height.
