Shiny Pokemon

Increase your chances of finding Shiny Pokemon in pokemon sun moon with the Shiny Charm, Masuda Method, and Ally Chaining. Base odds are 1 in 4096.

Shiny Pokemon can be found naturally in the wild or by hatching Pokemon Eggs in pokemon sun moon. However, the base chance for a Pokemon to be shiny is a low 1 in 4096.

Fortunately, there are methods to improve your odds:

Shiny Charm: After completing the Alola Pokedex (catching all Alolan Pokemon, not the National Pokedex), you can receive this key item from the Game Director at the Game Freak offices in Heahea City. Simply possessing the Shiny Charm increases your chances of finding or hatching Shiny Pokemon.

Masuda Method: Breed two Pokemon that originate from different language versions of the game. The region abbreviation in the Pokemon's Summary screen (top right) indicates its origin. This method drastically increases the chance of hatching a Shiny Pokemon.

Ally Chaining: When a wild Pokemon's HP is low, it may call for an ally Pokemon during an S.O.S. Battle. If only one wild Pokemon is present, this can continue. The more ally Pokemon are summoned consecutively, the greater the chance the next ally Pokemon called will be shiny.
