Hey there! Ula'ula Island might seem like it's all about the trials, but there are some neat little sidequests tucked away that are totally worth checking out. They're not super long, but they can snag you some useful items and add a bit more flavor to your Alola adventure. Let's dive in!

Mimikyus Unwanted Clothes

First up, head to the Pokémon Center in Malie City. Look for a girl who has a Mimikyu with her – give her a friendly chat! She'll hand over a Reaper Cloth. This is a pretty cool item because it's used to evolve Dusclops into Dusknoir when traded, though you won't find either of those Pokémon natively in Alola. You'll need to get them from another game.

Love and Hate

This one's best done at night. Make your way to the malasada shop in Malie City. Inside, tucked away in a corner near the checkout, you'll find an Oranguru. Chatting with him will score you TM21 Frustration. But wait, there's more! Right after that, the shop owner will come over and give you TM27 Return too. These two TMs are neat because Frustration does more damage the less your Pokémon likes you, while Return is the opposite – it's stronger with a Pokémon that really likes you. Handy for different team compositions!

Meal with Nanu

This is a fun one, similar to an event you might have seen in Konikoni City. If you visit the Sushi High Roller restaurant in Malie City and pick the most expensive option, the “Z-Kaiseki: Ronin Set”, you'll get a surprise visitor: Nanu himself! He'll join you for the meal, and at the end, you'll be rewarded with a generous 8 Heart Scales. The best part? You can do this once a day, so if you need Heart Scales for move relearning, this is a fantastic, low-effort way to get them!

Finally Decided

Remember that kid in the Malie Community Centre flea market who had a Shiny Stone (in Sun) or a Dusk Stone (in Moon)? Well, if you visit him again, he's finally decided to part with his precious stone, but it'll cost you 3,000 Poké Dollars. The Shiny Stone can evolve Pokémon like Togetic, Roselia, Minccino, and Floette. The Dusk Stone, on the other hand, is used for Murkrow, Misdreavus, Lampent, and Doublade. Keep in mind that not all of these Pokémon are native to Alola, so you might need to use the Island Scan to find some of them!

Secret of the Pond

For this last one, make sure it's daytime. Head to the pagoda located in the north-west part of Malie Garden – you know, the one sitting in the lake between the bridge and that winding path. Find the Lass standing by the water's edge and chat with her. If you answer “Gyarados” when she asks, you'll receive an Air Balloon. It's a simple way to get an item that can make your Pokémon immune to Ground-type moves for one hit!
