Shiny Pokémon

Increase your Shiny Pokémon odds in Pokémon USUM to 1 in 4096 with the Shiny Charm, Masuda Method, Ally Chaining, or Ultra Warp Ride.

The base chance of encountering a Shiny Pokémon in Pokémon USUM is 1 in 4096. Fortunately, there are several methods to improve your odds:

Shiny Charm: Obtain this key item from the Game Director in the Game Freak offices in Heahea City after completing the Alola Pokedex. This item permanently increases your chances of finding or hatching Shiny Pokémon.

Masuda Method: Breed Pokémon from different language versions of the game. This drastically increases the chance of hatching a Shiny Pokémon. You can check a Pokémon's region of origin by looking at the summary screen; a different region abbreviation in the top right indicates it's from a different language version.

Ally Chaining (S.O.S. Battles): When a wild Pokémon is low on HP, it may call for an ally. If only one wild Pokémon remains, this can continue. The more ally Pokémon summoned, the greater the chance the next summoned Pokémon will be shiny.

Ultra Warp Ride: When entering a warp hole that does not contain a Legendary Pokémon or Ultra Beast, there is an increased chance of finding a Shiny Pokémon. The rarer the warp hole, the higher the chance. The shininess of these Pokémon is determined when you enter the warp hole, so soft-resetting is not effective.

Tips:

• The Shiny Charm requires completing the Alolan Pokedex, not the National Pokedex.
• The Masuda Method relies on breeding Pokémon from different language regions.
• Ally Chaining requires the wild Pokémon to call for help, which can be triggered when HP is low.
• Shiny Pokémon found via Ultra Warp Ride are determined upon entering the warp hole.
