Complete Trial 3 in Pokémon USUM at Wela Volcano Park. Find Totem Sticker #038, Hyper Potion, Antidote, Float Stone, and TM39 Rock Tomb.

The 3rd island trial in Pokémon USUM takes place at Wela Volcano Park. Water-types are strongly recommended due to the Fire-type trial. You are free to catch wild Pokémon along the way; Fire-types encountered will be useful for the next Grass-type trial.

From the entrance, head north-west towards the tall grass. After stepping into the grass, summon Tauros and break the rocks behind the big entrance sign to find Totem Sticker #038. Head up the small slope on the other side of the tall grass, then go south-west through the next patch of tall grass to pick up the Hyper Potion.

Ascend the next slope. Up here, you can sneak past a female tourist through the tall grass on her right.

Past the tourist, the path slopes up towards the north-east. At the end, a friendly backpacker stands next to a cave. Step into the cave to be transported near the trial entrance, where Kiawe will be waiting.

Before entering the trial gate, grab the Antidote on the left side. Travel west from the trial gates, leaping over several ledges. After jumping over the 3rd ledge, pick up the Float Stone by the side of the volcano. Two more ledges later, you’ll arrive next to another friendly backpacker near a cave.

Through this cave, you’ll emerge on the eastern side of the volcano, where the third and final backpacker is found. From her position, head directly south to reach Ace Trainer Jim.

Ace Trainer Jim

Ace Trainer Jim uses a Level 20 Noibat (Flying/Dragon) and a Level 21 Kadabra (Psychic). Noibat takes massive damage from Ice-types. Kadabra is fast and hits hard; use Dark or Ghost-types, or resist with Steel-types.

South from Jim, past the tall grass, is a slope leading to a mountain ledge. Following the ledge north will lead you to TM39 Rock Tomb. Jim can see you from above when he reaches the bottom of his path. At this same corner, there’s also a Photo Spot. Going south along the ledge leads to Hiker Calhoun.

Hiker Calhoun

Hiker Calhoun uses a Level 19 Roggenrola (Rock). It is weak to Grass, Water, Ground, Fighting, and Steel-types.

Head back up the slope, then proceed west through the tall grass. Leap off the ledge, then the next three. Before the final ledge, pick up the Burn Heal. Over the last ledge, you’ll be back before the first cave. You can now return to the trial gates and enter the trial.

Totem’s Den

At the volcano’s peak, approach Kiawe. Bring powerful Water-types, ideally equipped with Waterium Z from the previous trial.

When the trial begins, you must spot the difference between two dances. The first difference is the middle Marowak, which is a Fire and Ghost-type. Water, Rock, or Ground-types are ideal partners. The second difference is the Hiker’s smile; the Hiker will attack this time.

Hiker David

Hiker David uses a Level 19 Magmar (Fire). Water, Rock, or Ground-types are effective. Attack with a super-effective hit quickly, as you won’t get a chance to heal between battles.

The third difference is revealed after defeating Hiker David.
