Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon introduce a wealth of new content and features for players to discover. This guide highlights the key changes and additions that set these games apart from their predecessors.

New Pokémon and Forms: The games feature new forms for Necrozma, specifically Dusk Mane Necrozma and Dawn Wings Necrozma, which have absorbed the powers of Solgaleo and Lunala, respectively. Additionally, five new numbered Pokémon have been added, including four Ultra Beasts encountered late-game and one Mythical Pokémon obtained through events.

Necrozma's Expanded Role: Necrozma, originally a Legendary Pokémon trio member in Sun and Moon, takes center stage in the endgame story of Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. Its narrative significance is amplified, and its power is greatly enhanced through its new forms.

Expanded Alola Pokédex: The Alola Pokédex has been expanded to include over 400 Pokémon, a significant increase from the 300 found in the original Sun and Moon. This offers a wider variety of Pokémon to catch and use in battle, providing new team-building options and challenges.

Brand New Z-Moves: Several Pokémon now have access to new Z-Moves, adding more strategic depth to battles. Notable Pokémon with new Z-Moves include Lycanroc (all forms), Mimikyu, Kommo-o, Solgaleo, Lunala, and Necrozma. All previous Z-Moves and event-exclusive Z-Crystals are also available.

Alola Photo Club: A new feature, the Alola Photo Club, allows players to take photos with their Pokémon in locations like Hau'oli City and Konikoni City. These photos can be decorated with stickers and shared via Festival Plaza.

Mantine Surf: A new mode of transportation between islands, Mantine Surf, lets players ride Mantine, perform tricks, avoid obstacles, and earn Battle Points (BP) that can be used for Move Tutors.

Battle Agency: Accessible through Festival Plaza, the Battle Agency is a new battle facility where players can team up with others and use borrowed Pokémon to fight challenges and earn Festival Coins (FC).

Ultra Warp Ride: This feature allows players to travel through Ultra Space using Solgaleo or Lunala to find wormholes leading to different worlds. It offers a chance to encounter Ultra Beasts and Legendary Pokémon from past generations.

Episode RR: A postgame story, Episode RR, becomes available after completing the main story. It features Team Rainbow Rocket, composed of various past evil team leaders, presenting a new challenge for players.

The Little Things: Numerous quality-of-life improvements have been made, including an easier-to-find Save button and new Rotom powers similar to Pass Powers and O-Powers. New sidequests are also scattered throughout Alola, offering access to rare items and making exploration more engaging.
