Hey there! So you're diving into Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon? Awesome! The very first thing you'll do when you boot up the game is pick your language. You've got 9 options, from English to Traditional Chinese. We'll stick with English for this guide, but feel free to go with whatever you're most comfortable with.

After that, Professor Kukui, the Alola region's resident Pokémon expert, will pop in. He'll ask you a few questions that help set up your trainer's name, gender, and skin color. Don't stress too much about these – they don't really change the story or gameplay, though your gender does affect the clothes you can wear.

Heads up: These choices are pretty permanent! You can't change your language, trainer name, gender, or skin color later on without starting a whole new game. To do that, you'd hold Up, X, and B on the title screen to delete your save. So, pick wisely!
