Discover Pokémon encounters, battle trainers, and find hidden items on Route 9 in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. Your guide to Konikoni City awaits!
Welcome to Route 9! This area is pretty small, but it's packed with a few important encounters and a neat little side quest. As soon as you arrive from Diglett's Tunnel, you'll meet Looker, a familiar face from past Pokémon games. He'll give you a Thunder Stone as a welcome gift. This stone is super useful – it can evolve Pikachu into Raichu, or Eevee into the Electric-type Jolteon. If you need more, you can grab them later in Konikoni City.
After Looker leaves, head into the police station right there. Talk to the officer behind the counter to kick off a funny (and a bit weird) side quest. Then, go to the back and chat with the other officer to start a battle with a wild Ditto. This Pokémon is famous for transforming into whatever Pokémon it's fighting, so be ready for anything!
It's a good idea to try and catch this Ditto while you're there. Once the battle is over, go back to the first officer you spoke to. They'll reward you with 12,000 Poké Dollars! You can talk to them again to learn about more Ditto-related incidents, but for now, let's move on.
Just outside the police station, you'll find a policeman ready for a battle. If you'd rather not engage, you can sneak right behind him.
Police Officer Haruki
| Pokémon | Level | Type |
| Herdier | 24 | Normal |
This is the evolved form of Lillipup. While it's a bit stronger, your Pokémon should still have the upper hand. Just watch out for its Intimidate ability, which can lower your Pokémon's Attack stat. If you have any Fighting-type Pokémon, now's a great time to use them!
As you continue, the path splits. If you head northwest, past a female Sightseer, you'll reach Konikoni City – your next major stop. If you go southeast, you'll find Memorial Hill, but it's best to save that for later.
There's one more path to explore. Head southwest from the Konikoni City entrance, down a small slope. You'll find a wide ledge perfect for fishing. To your left, check the rock at the far end for an X Accuracy. To your right, a Net Ball is just lying there. You can also battle the fisherman nearby.
Fisherman Mike
| Pokémon | Level | Type |
| Chinchou | 23 | Water/Electric |
| Tentacool | 23 | Water/Poison |
These two Water-types might require different strategies. Interestingly, both are weak to Ground-type moves. Chinchou also has a weakness to Grass, while Tentacool is vulnerable to Psychic attacks.
And that's pretty much Route 9! You'll be passing through here again later if you get involved in the Ditto sidequest. For now, head northwest towards Konikoni City!
