Learn how to navigate the skies in Bravely Default! Discover airship limitations, landing spots, and how to use Auto-Pilot to revisit your favorite locations.

Alright, so you've got your hands on the airship in Bravely Default – pretty cool, right? Think of it as your express ticket around the world, but with a few quirks you'll want to know about right off the bat.

Initially, you can fly pretty much anywhere, but there's a catch: you can't fly over the super craggy mountain peaks on the continent of Eternia. Also, you can only land the airship, the Eschalot, in specific spots. Look for bodies of water that are still a nice, fresh blue – these are your designated landing zones. Once you're in the water, you can actually navigate the Eschalot like a regular boat.

When you need to get back on land, you'll need to find a wooden pier or a sandy beach. There's a small exception: if you land in the lake in Caldisla's southwest, you don't need either of those. After you disembark, the Eschalot will hang out where you left it, and you'll see a little cyan, Eschalot-shaped marker on your bottom screen showing its location.

Later on, things get even better! Your airship gets a sweet upgrade that lets you zoom right over those Eternia peaks. You'll also be able to land pretty much anywhere, as long as there aren't any trees or mountains blocking your path. Once you land, the airship will actually disappear into the sky, but don't worry – you can summon it back whenever you need it, as long as you're in a spot where it can land. Just open up your map menu (press Right on the D-pad or tap the left-most tab on the bottom screen) and hit that airship icon.

While you're on the airship, you can even hop inside by selecting the airship icon again. This lets you access the ship's interior. The coolest feature, though, is Auto-Pilot. You can activate it from the map menu, and it lets you pick any location you've already visited. The game will then instantly zip you there – super handy for revisiting old haunts or getting to your next quest marker in a flash!
