Lakeside Battle

Learn how to take down Barras Lehr and Holly Whyte in Bravely Default! This guide covers their HP, weaknesses, and the best strategy to defeat them.

Stats / Weaknesses:

• Barras Lehr: Level 5, 300 HP, No Weaknesses
• Holly Whyte: Level 5, 250 HP, No Weaknesses

Phases:

1. Barras may Brave, leaving him open. Examine both enemies.
2. Default until you have max BP, then Brave to attack.
3. Focus Holly first due to lower HP and healing/buffing abilities.
4. When Barras's HP is critical, he uses Invigorate, damaging all party members.
5. If Holly is defeated, Barras's Invigorate might defeat her if you damaged them equally.
6. If Holly is already down, spam Potions or Treat to survive Barras's Invigorate.

Strategy:

• Always Default when you can to build BP.
• When you have max BP (usually 4), Brave and unleash your attacks on either enemy.
• Prioritize taking down Holly first. She can cast Protect to boost defense and Cure to heal HP, plus she has less HP than Barras.
• Be aware that when Barras's HP gets low, he'll use Invigorate. This attack damages everyone on the field, including himself. If you've managed to damage both enemies somewhat equally, this move might even take Holly out for you!
• If Holly is already defeated and Barras is low on HP, be ready to spam Potions or use the Treat ability (a Level 2 Freelancer ability) to keep your party alive. Alternatively, you can Brave to finish him off quickly.
• Consider changing Tiz to a Monk and Agnes to a White Mage for this fight, though sticking with Freelancer to learn abilities is also a valid option.
• After this battle, you'll unlock the ability to change jobs and learn about abilities. Try switching Tiz to Monk and Agnes to White Mage, but remember you can still use Freelancer abilities by selecting them under Job Commands.
