Follow this comprehensive Bravely Default walkthrough to conquer the Thief Asterisk sub-scenario, navigate treacherous gas traps, find hidden treasures, and defeat The Jackal and Khint.
Walkthrough
- 1Make your way to the top-right corner of Floor 1 and descend stairs to an isolated room. Run to avoid black gas from a statue that inflicts Blind.
- 2Open the chest to find a Star Pendant (negates poison). Use White Mage's Blindna or Eyedrops if Blinded.
- 3Return to the first floor and head for the top-left corner.
- 4After the initial junction, turn two corners. Avoid the gas from a statue ahead and open the chest for 1 pg.
- 5Continue following the path to a second set of stairs leading down to Basement Level 1.
- 6On Basement Level 1, avoid a statue spewing gas leftward. Head left to a chest containing one Echo Herb.
- 7Follow the path down to a junction. Head right, staying at the bottom to avoid gas from a statue.
- 8Grab the chest at the end containing 1500 pg.
- 9Head left and take the first passageway south. Run straight down to avoid a gas-spewing statue.
- 10Past the corner, open a chest containing a Clothespin (negates Sleep).
- 11From the statue, head left and stay at the bottom to avoid another statue.
- 12At the next junction, follow the path down to find stairs leading to Basement Level 2.
- 13On Basement Level 2, head right, minding a gas-spewing statue looking down.
- 14Follow the path right to a chest containing an Ether.
- 15Continue down to a blue locked chest (cannot be opened yet).
- 16Head further down to a junction with gas-spewing statues on both routes. Run left without pausing to avoid the gas.
- 17At the end, run to the left of the chest to avoid the last statue. Open the chest for Thief Gloves.
- 18Run back the way you came. Halfway, take the passageway down to find a chest with an Iron Bow.
- 19Run back and take the other path, avoiding three statues.
- 20Speak to the Adventurer to prepare for the boss battle. Exit right to the Thieves' Den.
- 21Atop the stairs, where the blue exclamation mark is, you will find the boss.

- Level: 13
- HP: 5000 (Both)
- Weak to: Nothing
Strategy:
- Avoid attacking Khint unless necessary, as he leaves midway. Focus on The Jackal.
- Default until The Jackal Braves, then attack. Avoid going into negative BP.
- Use all Special Moves and summon allies from the start for massive damage.
- After exhausting Special Moves, use strong abilities like the Knight's Stomp. Avoid normal attacks due to The Jackal's high Evade.
- Black Magic can be effective as both bosses have low magic defense, if MP allows.
Tips
- Try to open chests while standing away from statues to avoid being Blinded by the gas.
- If facing two enemies, use four attacks per strong character on the first turn. For three enemies, use judgment; three strong characters attacking four times can often defeat them.
- When facing Great Caits and Sand Worms, kill the Sand Worm quickly to avoid Sandstorm criticals. Consider going into negative BP to remove annoying enemies if necessary.
- If you have the Thief’s Knife equipped, use it in battle via the Item command to steal items and deal damage.
- If relying on White Magic for healing, MP may run low. Consider using Potions for HP healing instead.
