Sub-Scenario: Royal Performance

Learn how to defeat Praline and The Jackal in Bravely Default! This guide covers their weaknesses, HP, and the best strategies to overcome this challenging boss encounter.

Alright, so you've stumbled into a bit of a surprise encounter here! When The Jackal shows up, Praline stops calling for backup, which actually makes things a little simpler. Your main goal is to focus all your attacks on Praline. This fight ends when either of them goes down, and since you've already chipped away at Praline, that's your best bet.

These two mostly rely on physical attacks. If they're hitting too hard, don't hesitate to use abilities like Rampart or Utsusemi to defend. For Praline's Love Power, counter it with skills that lower their attack power or use the White Mage's Disepl ability. If you have the chance, you can even try to steal a Star Pendant from Praline.

Things get a bit more complicated when Khamer joins the fray. You'll face Khamer, The Jackal, and Praline all at once. You'll want to make sure you have immunity to Stop, and some Earth resistance will help against Khamer's Quara attacks.

Just like before, keep focusing your damage on Praline, as her Love Power can be a pain, though it won't do much against Khamer. Don't bother trying to steal from anyone else, as only Praline has the Star Pendant, and you probably have enough of those by now!

Once Praline or Khamer is defeated, The Jackal will go berserk, Braving three times in a single turn. If his onslaught is too much, consider taking him out first since he can't Brave if he's incapacitated. Otherwise, you can easily time your Defaults to weather his powerful attacks. It's usually best to leave Khamer for last. He sometimes Defaults, so try to spread out your attacks for maximum effect, or use abilities that bypass Default, like the Monk's Qijong Wave, Ranger's Targeting, or the Valkyrie's Pierce Default.
