Forbidden Magick Research Laboratory: Location, Quests & Rewards

Find the Forbidden Magick Research Lab in dragons dogma 2 via three entrances. Discover quests like A New Godsway and loot including Wakestones.

Locations:

The Forbidden Magick Research Lab can be accessed through three distinct entrances in dragons dogma 2:

• Northern Cliff / Gaol Entrances: From the northern part of Bakbattahl, follow the route north from the market towards the city's edge. Descend pathways towards the Gaol or another doorway leading into the lab. The Gaol entrance also provides a long pathway back to the lab.
• Eastern Bakbattahl Flame Palace Entrance: Enter the Flame Palace and find spiral stairs in the Great Flame Shrine area. This entrance is on the east side of Bakbattahl.
• South Flame Palace Entrance: Enter the Flame Palace via the road leading south from the city, then work your way north to the temple near the History building. In the northwest corner of the Shrine Altar room, find spiral stairs leading down into the Forbidden Magick Research Lab.

Note that Pawns cannot enter the Palace or the grounds of the Forbidden Magick Research Lab. The area uses intruder music similar to Vernworth Palace, but guards will not interfere unless provoked.

Quests:

The Forbidden Magick Research Lab is a location for several main and side quests in dragons dogma 2.

• Main Quest: A New Godsway - You must visit the lab as part of this main story quest, which requires handing over 15x Wyrmlife Crystals to progress the main storyline towards its final act.
• Side Quest: Veil of Gossamer Clouds - To obtain this quest, you must have completed all of Sven's side quests in Vernworth. Inside the lab, enter one of the Workshops at the corner of the dragon statue to find a letter on a table.
• Side Quest: Sotted Sage (Warfarer Vocation Unlock) - To unlock the Warfarer Vocation, you need Newt Liqueur. Some of this liquor can be found within the Laboratorium - Alchemy rooms on the west side of the Forbidden Research Lab.
• Information on Medusa - An NPC (non-player character — anyone the game controls, not you) in one of the workshop rooms provides valuable information about Medusa. A book in the same area also offers strategies for fighting the Medusa boss, located near Wyrmblood Forest.
• Unmoored World Quest: Dreams Apart - This quest also utilizes the building, but details are withheld to avoid spoilers.

Important Loot:

Various valuables, crafting materials, gear, and Seeker’s Tokens can be found within the Forbidden Magick Research Laboratory:

• Seeker’s Token 1: Located in the main lab area, in front of the head of a dragon statue.
• Wakestone Shard: Found on a table in Workshop 1, located in the center of the lab area.
• Farseer’s Circlet: Looted from a chest in the corner of the Laboratory Workshop 1 room. This helmet can be worn by all classes and is also sold at the Bakbattahl Armory.
• Black Crystal: Found inside a wooden chest along the tunnel connecting the Research Lab to the Gaol.
• Blackened Horn: Inside a chest in the Laboratorium Testing Room.
• Wakestone 1: Located within the ribcage of a dragon’s skeleton in a large pit. Access this by descending the large circular staircase to the bottom.
• Seeker’s Token 2: Lodged into the remains of the dragon at the bottom of the staircase in the Refuse Storage.
• Grimoires (Spellbooks): In the Laboratorium - Material Stores room, a chest next to the door contains the Igneous Melody, Emergent Vitality, Threshing Blaze, Winter’s Path, and Fulgurous Lord spellbooks.
• Prescribed Tranquility: Looted from a desk in the corner of Workshop 1.
