Follow our detailed walkthrough for Dragon's Dogma 2's 'An Unsettling Encounter' quest. Learn how to start the quest, find Allard's chambers, and obtain the Battahli-Crested Letter.
Walkthrough
- 1Start the Quest: Speak with Captain Brant in the back room of The Stardrop Inn. Select the dialogue option “Tell me of rumors about Allard.” This usually becomes available after completing the “Disa’s Plot” quest.
- 2Prepare Your Disguise: You need to wear either civilian clothes or the Marcher armor set to enter Vernworth Castle without suspicion. The Marcher armor can be bought from Philbert’s Sundries in the market square or found in a chest in the first room of the Guardhouse. Civilian clothes can be found in houses in the Noble Quarter of Vernworth.
- 3Enter Vernworth Castle: Make your way to the castle entrance. A guard named Sonia will escort you to an entrance that bypasses questioning.
- 4Navigate the Castle: Proceed through the storeroom, turn right (northeast), then southeast towards the throne room. Go through the archway on the southwest side and ascend the spiral stairs to reach the castle's living quarters.
- 5Locate Allard’s Chambers: As you head east from the top of the stairs, a cutscene will play featuring Minister Allard. Wait for him and his guard to leave the room.
- 6Find the Secret Room: Enter Allard’s chambers. In the southeast corner, look for distinctive blocks jutting out from the wall. Press against this section of the wall to reveal a secret door.
- 7Obtain the Letter: Inside the hidden room, you will find the Battahli-Crested Letter on a table.
- 8Escape and Report: Jump out the window of Allard’s chambers. A cutscene will play where Wilhelmina assists your escape. Return to Captain Brant at The Stardrop Inn and present the letter.
