Make choices after defeating Phaesus in dragons dogma 2. Learn how to get the Peace ending and romance an NPC.
Walkthrough
- 1Travel through Moonglint Tower to reach Phaesus, who is performing a ritual to summon the Dragon.
- 2Defeat Phaesus's Lost Mercenary enemies (around 500XP each).
- 3A cutscene (a non-interactive cinematic the game plays automatically) will play, showing the true Dragon defeating Phaesus and the Lesser Dragon.
- 4The Dragon will present you with a choice: abandon its captive or stand and fight.
- 5To advance the plot, you must choose to stand and fight. There is no secret bad ending for abandoning the captive in dragons dogma 2.
- 6The captive is nominally your love interest, chosen from NPCs with high affection. Rosy cheeks indicate a candidate.
- 7To increase the chance of a specific NPC (non-player character — anyone the game controls, not you) being chosen, give them the Eternal Bond ring, obtained by solving enough of the Sphinx’s riddles.
- 8Accept the Dragon’s challenge by walking up and attacking it. It will fly you to an arena.
- 9During the flight on the Dragon's back, decide which ending to pursue. Choosing to fight conventionally leads to the "Peace" ending and its associated achievement. This is recommended to unlock The Unmoored World without losing progress.
- 10If you delay your decision, the Dragon will eventually trigger a cutscene, and you will face it in a crater. Your pawns will be present.
- 11The Dragon has six life bars and shares attacks with the Drake. Its potent attacks include claw smashes, swatting attacks, aerial slams, sweeping fiery breath, Fire Mine spells, and a weakened Meteoron spell.
- 12To avoid the Dragon's fiery breath, stay close and do not stand directly in front of its head. Run horizontally to avoid Meteoron.
- 13The Dragon's weakspots are its heart and head. The chest and neck glow, with a smaller, orange, magmatic pustule on the chest being the vulnerable spot.
- 14Archers and Magick Archers can easily target the head. Casters should maintain distance for head targeting. Thieves and Warriors should target the chest and neck.
- 15If the Dragon takes flight, run away to avoid its slam attack. If you are at a distance, run forward when it breathes fire.
- 16When staggered, you can punish the Dragon's heart. After it recovers, it will roar, draining your Stamina if you are close, and reseal its heart.
Tips
- The Dragon is a less challenging fight than the original game's Grigori and shares many attacks with the Drake.
- Staying close to or under the Dragon is generally safer, but positioning depends on your vocation.
- Even if you cannot hit the weakspots, the Dragon will periodically stagger, allowing you to deal damage.
- The Dragon's breath weapon attacks are painful but well-telegraphed.
- The Meteoron spell is less powerful and less frequently used than the Drake's version.
