Navigate the Civil Unrest quest in Dragon's Dogma 2 with our walkthrough. Learn how to resolve disputes in Bakbattahl and get the best rewards.

Alright, so you've stumbled upon the 'Civil Unrest' quest in Dragon's Dogma 2, huh? Don't worry, it's not as complicated as it sounds. You'll be dealing with some squabbles in Bakbattahl, and your job is to smooth things over before you can move on.

Where to find the quest:

First off, you need to find Menella. She's hanging out near the Flamebearer Palace in Bakbattahl, usually on the main path. Look for her around the corner from the Inn, close to that big, weird pillar of light. You'll see some folks arguing, and Menella will be trying to break it up. Talk to her, and she'll explain that she wants to sort out some local disputes before everyone evacuates.

Important Note: Before you dive deep into this, make sure you've started the 'Hall of the First Dawn' quest at the Seafloor Shrine. That's where everyone's supposed to be heading. If you haven't done it yet, you'll have to come back later to set the destination, but you can still tackle the disputes now.

Walkthrough
  1. 1

Residential Ward Dispute - Grantt vs Abba:

Head to the streets between the Rare Book Stand and Fulvio’s Workshop. You'll find a Beastren and a Human going at it. Once you interrupt, they'll turn their anger on you. You have a couple of options here: you can either just run around and defend yourself with a shield until they calm down, or you can go the aggressive route and attack them. The game calls the latter the 'violent method'.

  2. 2

Bakbattahl Bazaar Dispute - Glint vs Nomos:

Next up, find the dispute between Avaran’s Arms and the Pilgrims’ Inn - Flagship. When you get close, you'll have three dialogue choices: 'The human is wrong,' 'The beastren is wrong,' or 'Neither of you are wrong.' Pick the bottom option. Then, chat with the kids nearby and give them some food. This will resolve the dispute peacefully.

  3. 3

Bakbattahl Vocation Guild Dispute - Nabrah vs Scario - The Duel:

Your last stop is outside the Vocation Guild. Here, Scario is challenging Nabrah's honor. Nabrah will then propose a duel to settle it. They'll ask you to be a witness. You can ask what the duel is about if you want the backstory, but the main thing is to agree to bear witness. Just sit back and watch the duel unfold. They'll end up respecting each other, and the dispute will be over.

  4. 4

    Head back to Menella:

Once you've sorted out all the conflicts, return to Menella near the Flamebearer Palace. Let her know you've resolved everything. Your reward will depend on how you handled each dispute.

  5. 5

    Speak to Empress Nadinia:

After you report back to Menella, she'll tell you to speak with Empress Nadinia in the palace. Don't worry if you've seen her die before; she'll be back. Head to the Flamebearer Palace and find her chambers in the northeast section. Vera might try to stop you, saying the Empress is busy, but just go in. The Empress will thank you for your help, and the quest will be complete.

If you managed to settle the disputes amicably, you're looking at a pretty sweet reward: 20,000 XP, 10-20,000 G, 35x Wyrmlife Crystals, and an Allheal Elixir. If you haven't visited the Seafloor Shrine yet, remember you'll need to return there to get the evacuees to their destination after you've been.
