Dragonsplague is a disease that only pawns can contract in dragons dogma 2, impacting their minds and causing them to ignore commands. This is distinct from inclinations where a pawn might argue or moan about a task; afflicted pawns will outright refuse to acknowledge commands. While the disease can make pawns more powerful, it has severe consequences. If you sleep at an Inn while your pawn is at the crux of the disease, they will transform into a dragon and begin killing NPCs one by one. This is particularly problematic as it can lead to the death of important NPCs, potentially resulting in the loss of access to quests or vital shopkeepers.

How to Revive Dead NPCs

If important NPCs are killed due to Dragonsplague, you can revive them. Head to the morgue nearest to where the NPC (non-player character — anyone the game controls, not you) died and use a Wakestone on their corpse. Wakestones can be obtained by finding three Wakestone Shards scattered throughout the world. If you defeat the Sphinx, you can obtain an Eternal Wakestone, though this is a late-game reward. As a last resort, if NPCs are dead and you have no Wakestones, waiting one in-game week will revive all of them, which is especially useful if many NPCs die simultaneously.

Does My Pawn have Dragonsplague?

There are ways to tell if your pawn has contracted Dragonsplague. Beyond refusing commands, a dead giveaway is their eyes, which will gradually change to a reddish hue. If you notice this on any pawn, dismiss them from your party immediately. If it is your main pawn, drown them in the nearest river to help them recover. You will receive a tutorial about Dragonsplague the first time you encounter it, but subsequent contractions will not trigger a tutorial, so you must remain vigilant.

Dragonsplague Symptoms

• Refusing your commands: This is an outright refusal, not just moaning or arguing about a task.
• Eye Discoloration: The pawn's eyes will change to a reddish color. Always check pawn eye color when hiring.
• Complaining about a Headache: Afflicted pawns may complain about headaches, which they will not do if they are healthy.
• Wiping their forehead profusely: The pawn may frequently wipe their forehead, similar to someone with a fever.

How Do You Get Dragonsplague?

Dragonsplague can only spread from pawn to pawn. If you hire a pawn with the disease, your pawn could contract it, and if someone hires your pawn, they could get it. The initial patient zero was a Capcom-made pawn, but it has likely spread. If you encounter a pawn showing symptoms, dismiss them immediately. Another way to contract the disease is by killing many dragons and their variants.
