Navigate the dark tunnels and reach Asakusa in Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne HD Remaster. Learn about the Ikebukuro Tunnel, essential items like Light Balls, and the challenging White Rider boss fight.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
From Ginza, Hijiri directs you to Asakusa, accessible via a tunnel in East Ikebukuro.
  2. 2
Head to Higashi-Ikebukuro Station. Before entering the tunnel, visit the Junk Shop to buy Light Balls and Float Balls, as the tunnel is dark and contains damaging traps.
  3. 3
Enter the Ikebukuro Tunnel. The initial section is safe, but enemies appear from B2 onwards.
  4. 4
The tunnel is dark, obscuring vision. Use a Light Ball to illuminate the area.
  5. 5
Near the tunnel entrance, an Oni warns about four powerful Onis. A Save Room with an Amala Link is located to the left of this Oni.
  6. 6
To reach Asakusa efficiently, follow this path: From B2 Save Terminal, go left and down to B3. On B3, go straight, right, then straight to a ladder to B4. On B4, go straight, left, straight, then right to a ladder back to B3. In B3 again, take a U-shaped path to a ladder to B2.
  7. 7
From B2, head down (or take the path to the one-way Save Terminal), right, and then follow either the top or bottom path to reach Kuramae Station.
  8. 8
Exit Kuramae Station and head north into the Vortex World to find Asakusa.
Tips
  • Fully exploring the Ikebukuro Tunnel is optional and can be challenging. It's advisable to skip it on your first playthrough if your team isn't strong enough (around Level 45+ is recommended for the White Rider).
  • Light Balls are crucial for navigating the dark sections of the Ikebukuro Tunnel.
  • The Save Room in the Ikebukuro Tunnel provides an Amala Link, allowing you to return to previous areas to resupply or heal.
  • In Asakusa, you'll find a Save Terminal, Cathedral of Shadows, Junk Shop, and Fountain of Life conveniently located near each other.

Boss Fight: White Rider (Maniax/Chronicle Version Only)

This battle is triggered upon entering Asakusa if you meet certain conditions (progressing through the Amala Labyrinth). It's recommended to be around Level 45+.

  • White Rider's Skills: Prominence (Fire damage), Dragon Eye, Dekaja, God's Arrow (Light instant-kill).
  • Virtue's Skills: Mahama, Thunderclap (50% HP reduction), Rakunda, Makarakarn, Mediarama.
  • Strategy: White Rider will continuously summon two Virtues. While the Virtues themselves aren't extremely dangerous, they can disrupt your strategy by healing White Rider, lowering your stats, and preventing magic use. You can either defeat the Virtues each round, forcing White Rider to resummon them, or focus on dealing damage to White Rider while managing the Virtues. Be wary of God's Arrow, which guarantees a KO unless you have Light immunity.
