BOSS: GEDO SPECTRE (6 of 'em)

Learn the best strategy to defeat the Gedo Spectre boss and its allies in Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne HD Remaster. Master their MP-draining tactics!

Stats / Weaknesses:

• HP: 980
• MP: 29 (no apparent max limit)
• Resistances: Immune to all attack magic.
• Skills: De-Kunda, Megido, Drink Magic

Phases:

1. The Gedo Spectres will summon allies.
2. After the first round, they attempt to cast Megido.
3. If they can't cast Megido due to MP, they'll use Drink Magic to absorb your MP.
4. They will continue to try and drain your MP even if you have none left.
5. They will occasionally attack with physical attacks, which can deal significant damage.
6. Once only 1 or 2 Spectres remain, summon your allies to finish the fight.

Strategy:

• The key to this fight is to exploit their MP dependency for Megido. Bring only the Hero into the battle initially, and make sure your MP is as low as possible. The Spectres will use Drink Magic to drain your MP. Once your MP hits zero, they can no longer cast Megido because they won't have enough MP themselves.
• Warning: Even with zero MP, they'll still waste turns trying to drain you. They can still attack physically, and their damage is considerable, even with physical-resistant Magatama. Keep a good supply of Hogyoku items to heal yourself when their attacks land.
• Try to reduce their accuracy as much as possible using skills like Fog Breath. If all six Spectres attack in a single round, you're likely to be defeated unless you have a massive HP pool.
• While they're wasting turns trying to drain your non-existent MP, use your physical attacks to whittle down their HP.
• Once you've defeated most of them and only one or two Gedo Spectres are left, summon your allies back into the fight. This allows them to help finish off the remaining enemies and also ensures they get to benefit from the substantial 6,666 EXP reward this battle provides.
• Be aware that the longer the fight drags on, the more likely they are to start focusing their attacks on you, so try to end it efficiently once you've depleted their Megido threat.
