Defense Against The Dark Arts Class

Learn the Levioso Spell and Protego shields in Hogwarts Legacy's Defense Against the Dark Arts class. Master dueling with Sebastian Sallow and get tips for success.

Alright, so you've just spoken with Professor Fig and it's time to head into the Defense Against the Dark Arts Towers. Just follow the path through the Transfiguration Courtyard, head up those first stairs, hang a left, and then take a right at that big interactive globe. A few more stairs and you'll be right where you need to be for class!

Once you're in the classroom, you'll see a bit of a scene unfold with Sebastian Sallow and Leander Prewett dueling. Don't worry, Professor Hecat steps in with a perfectly timed Levioso Spell to save Leander from a falling giant skull. Professor Hecat, who's got a cool backstory as an Unspeakable, will then tell you that you'll be learning the very same Levioso Spell.

Learning the Levioso Spell

Time to learn the Levioso Spell! You'll need to use your Left Stick for the wand movements. It's a flick to the right, then up, followed by a semicircle arching to the left. Keep an eye out for the X / A button prompts as you do this. You'll practice it first on a feather, then on a mannequin.

After that, Professor Hecat will show you how to break those yellow Protego shields before hitting them with your basic cast. You'll also learn how to defend with Protego yourself by pressing Triangle / Y. If you time it right, you can even follow up with a Stupify counter by holding that button down.

Now for the fun part: you'll duel Sebastian Sallow! It's pretty straightforward. Start by using Levioso (hold R2/RT and press the mapped button) to break his Protego shield, then follow up with your basic casts by tapping R2/RT. If he starts attacking, remember to defend with Protego (Triangle / Y) and counter with Stupify.

Once the duel is done and Professor Hecat gives you some pointers on assignments, you'll need to chat with Sebastian. He's hanging out at the back left of the classroom. He'll congratulate you on the duel and invite you to join
