Alright, let's grab this Power Star! To get the 'Eye to Eye in the Secret Room' star in Super Mario 64, you absolutely *must* have the Vanish Cap unlocked. There's no way around it for this particular star, so make sure you've got that ability ready to go.

First things first, enter the mansion through the main doors. Head on up the stairs, and make your way to the last room on the right. Once you're in there, go around the bookshelf and then exit through the other door. This will put you out onto a balcony where you'll find a Vanish Cap block. You'll need to be quick after grabbing the cap, so don't be surprised if you need a few tries to get the movement down perfectly.

After you've donned the Vanish Cap, you need to get to the third floor. The fastest way is to rush back through the door you just came from and then Wall Jump up to the ledge that leads to the third floor. As soon as you arrive on the third floor, make a beeline for the Boo picture on the wall. With the Vanish Cap still active, you should be able to pass right through it!

Pro-Tip: From the Vanish Cap block on the balcony, you can actually Long Jump across to the other door. This can save you a little bit of time, which is super helpful when you're racing against the clock.

Once you've phased through the Boo picture, you'll find yourself face-to-face with a giant Mr. I. Just run around this big fella until it disappears. Once it's gone, the Power Star will appear, and you can collect it!
