Gateway's Purple Coins

Alright, so you're looking to snag all those tricky Purple Coins in the Gateway Galaxy, huh? This level only pops up after you've gotten the Gate dome back online, which happens after you've nabbed the sixth Grand Star from King Kaliente's fiery domain. Don't worry, it's not too far into the game!

This is actually your first real taste of collecting 100 Purple Coins in a level, and it's a big one! Once you nail this, you'll unlock other Purple Coin missions whenever a Purple Comet shows up. Collect all 100 here, and you'll score a special Red Power Star. Plus, you get to try out a cool new Mario ability: flight! Grab a Red Star power-up, and when you jump, hit the Y button to spin. You'll take to the skies! While flying, just zoom through the purple coins to collect them. You can even spin again mid-air to grab coins that are super close. Keep an eye on your flight time, though – it doesn't last forever, but thankfully, there are power-up spots scattered around so you can keep flying.

Now, let's talk coin locations. Out of the 100, about 30 are floating in the sky above the planet. When you're ready, leap off the main tower and just fly around the planet, following the coin trails. The other 70 are scattered all over the planet itself. While you can jump to many of them, using your flight ability will make grabbing the ones on high places, like rooftops and tall rocks, way easier.

• Sky Bubbles: There are 30 Purple Coins floating in bubbles up in the sky.
• Tower Steps: You'll find 10 Purple Coins right on the steps leading up the tower.
• Shallow Lake: At the base of the tower, there are 12 coins chilling in the shallow water.
• Stone Pillars: Look for a circle of tall stone pillars; there are 7 coins perched on top of them.
• House Roofs: The houses on this planet have 9 Purple Coins sitting on their roofs.
• Flowery Mound: Near one of the houses, there's a flowery mound with a cluster of 8 coins.
• Ground Level: The remaining 26 coins are pretty easy to spot on the ground, on stepping stones, and nestled between green sprouts.

Once you've tracked down every single one of those 100 Purple Coins, make your way back to the very top of the tower. That's where your shiny Red Power Star is waiting for you!
