A complete guide to defeating the Cluckatrice hunt in Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age. Learn its weaknesses, resistances, and the best strategy to take it down.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Make your way to The Clan Hall in the North End of Rabanastre and talk to Montblanc to accept the Cluckatrice hunt.
  2. 2
Head to Southgate and enter Giza Plains. Make your way to Nomad Village and speak with Dania in the Cockatrice pen to officially start the hunt.
  3. 3
The Cluckatrice will spawn in Giza’s North Bank, east of Nomad Village. To make it appear, you must kill every enemy in the zone, then exit and re-enter. This includes all moving creatures, even the small bunnies.
  4. 4
Once you re-enter the zone, you should see Chickatrices. Approach one, and the Cluckatrice will attack.
  5. 5
Prioritize defeating the Chickatrices first, as they can inflict Slow and Petrify.
  6. 6
The Cluckatrice can also inflict Slow and Petrify with its physical attacks, and uses Stone Gaze and Mucus for the same ailments. It can also use Purify to remove your debuffs.
  7. 7
The Cluckatrice is vulnerable to Blind, Immobilize, and Disable. Using Disable is highly effective. Consider using a Red/Time Battlemage for this.
  8. 8
If someone gets Petrified, use a Gold Needle.
  9. 9
Steal from the Cluckatrice to obtain a Small Feather, Wind Stone, or Taurus Gem. Steal from Chickatrices for a Potion, Small Feather, or Large Feather.
  10. 10
Defeat all enemies in the zone to complete the hunt. If you leave the zone after only beating the Cluckatrice, it will respawn.
  11. 11
Return to Dania in Nomad Village to receive your reward.
Tips
  • All enemies in this hunt absorb Wind. Your Gladius will be ineffective.
  • Inflicting ailments like Blind, Immobilize, and Disable can make the fight easier.
  • Have a Gambit ready with Gold Needles to cure Petrify.
