Guide to Jahara, the Land of the Garif, in Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age. Learn about merchants, Monographs, and key NPCs like War-chief Supinelu and Great-chief.

Welcome to Jahara, the land of the Garif. Upon entering, you'll find a Chocobo stable and a Gate Crystal. Two guards initially block the main entrance, but War-chief Supinelu vouches for your party, granting you access. While there's not much to do in the village, you can speak with some Garif to learn that the elders have limited knowledge of nethicite.

The merchant in Jahara offers new equipment, including Tourmaline Rings that halve Ice damage. They also sell new technicks and magicks: Traveler (deals damage based on steps taken, max 9,999), Stona (cures Petrify), Fira (area-of-effect Fire attack), and Bleed (damage over time).

Regarding loot, you may have collected Quality Hides, Dark Magicite, Chocobo Feathers, Iron Carapaces, and Wyvern Wings from Ozmone Plain. These items do not unlock any Bazaar bundles.

Monographs

Monographs are special Bazaar items that increase enemy loot drops. They are not unlocked by selling loot but through indirect methods, such as talking to weapon shop owners 30 times. They are expensive, with the cheapest costing 18,000 Gil. When unlocked, they appear as "Forgotten Grimoire" in the Bazaar. The first three Monographs are recommended due to frequent encounters with beasts/avians, giants/insects, and amorphs/undead.

The Great-Chief

Head east of the merchant to find High-chief Zayalu, who gives you a Jaya Stick to deliver to War-chief Supinelu. Speak with Supinelu near the bridge leading to the Great-chief. You can either give him the Jaya Stick as instructed or sell it for 500 Gil. Giving it to Supinelu results in a better reward later, though the item can be purchased.

After speaking with Supinelu, you will be allowed to see the Great-chief. In the next area, The Elderknoll, you can find Low-chief Sugumu (north of the entrance) if you accepted the Enkelados hunt from Rabanastre, who will reveal the beast's location. A treasure at the far west end of this area yields a Pheasant Netsuke accessory, which doubles the effect of restorative items.

Speak with the Great-chief uphill and to the west of the bridge. He reveals that the Garif's misuse of nethicite led the gods to reclaim it and give it to the Dynast-King. During this conversation, Larsa arrives and proposes heading to Mt. Bur-Omi.
