Alright, so you've decided to take on the Overlord hunt in Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age. This one's a bit of a trek, but totally doable. First things first, you'll need to find the hunt notice. Head to Archades and check out the Bulward’s Technicks shop – specifically, the notice board there. You're looking for an 'Insecure Seeq' who's got a bit of a romantic problem and thinks beating a tough monster will impress his lady. Typical, right? Once you accept the hunt, he'll tell you his plan and then you'll need to head to the Sochen Cave Palace.

The hunt takes place in the Doubt Abandoned zone, which is pretty far south in the Sochen Cave Palace. When you get there, the Insecure Seeq will join you as an ally. Don't worry too much about keeping him alive; he's basically just there to make noise. Your main goal is to find the Overlord itself. It's lurking in a dead-end chamber on the western side of the Doubt Abandoned area, pretty close to the center of the map.

Strategy

So, the Overlord is level 42 and has over 60,000 HP. It might seem like less of a threat than some previous hunts, but don't let that fool you. Once its HP drops below 50%, it gets a serious defense boost. Its attack power is also pretty high, so expect to take some hits. Its main attacks include Lunge, Rage, Smite of Rage, and Tri-Attack. To help mitigate the damage, you might want to consider using buffs like Bubble and Protect. Also, Overlord ignores your evade rate, so don't count on dodging attacks with shields or abilities like Main Gauche.

One of Overlord's nastier tricks is Pyromania, an area-of-effect technick that deals fire damage. If you've got gear that boosts Fire Resistance, like the Adamant Vest, Adamant Hat, Flame Shield, or a Sash, definitely equip it. This will make a big difference.

Overlord doesn't start the fight with any buffs, but it will cast Bravery on itself if you give it the chance, making its already strong attacks even more dangerous. The good news is that Overlord can be afflicted with Blind, Confuse, Disease, and Silence. Blind and Silence are especially useful for crippling its offense.

Elementally, Overlord takes half damage from most types, but it's weak to Water and absorbs Fire. While Water magic isn't going to be your primary damage dealer here, the Shikari's Iga Blade is a solid choice, as are any Hand-Bombs if you have Water Bombs ammo. If you're struggling to keep it off-balance, the Karkata weapon can constantly inflict Confuse, which really helps control the fight.

After you've finally defeated the Overlord, the Insecure Seeq will take all the credit and tell you to meet him back in Archades for your reward. Head back to the Bulward’s Technicks shop to claim your 3500 Gil, 2 Hi-Ethers, and a Teleport Stone.
