Sochen Cave Palace

Enter Doubt Abandoned, the first area of Sochen Cave Palace. Be cautious of Zombie Knights, which can inflict status ailments like Silence, Confuse, Bleed, Blind, and Silence. They can also use Cloying Breath and Bad Breath. They are weak to holy and absorb dark. They may drop Dark Magicite, Maggoty Flesh, a Hypnocrown, or a Capricorn Gem. Stealing can yield Maggoty Flesh, 80 gil, or a Vanishga Mote. Poaching can result in Maggoty Flesh or a Capricorn Gem.

Encounter Gorgimeras, which are stronger versions of Cockatrices. They can inflict Stone Gaze and use Sonic Spin, Poke, and Ember Breath. They are weak to water. They may drop Bundles of Feathers, Fire Magicite, Teleport Stones, or Taurus Gems. Stealing can yield Fire Magicite, a Gold Needle, or a Hammerhead. Poaching can result in a Bundle of Feathers or a Taurus Gem.

Beware of Imps, which can use Shock Wave, Thundara, Leech, and Jump. They are weak to ice. They may drop Storm Magicite, Rime Fang, Demon Feather, or Scorpio Gem. Stealing can yield an Antidote, 130 gil, or a Storm Crystal. Poaching can result in a Demon Feather or Maduin Gear.

Use the Soul Ward Key on the locked door at the north end of Doubt Abandoned to enter the area where you will face the Mandragora Family boss.

Boss - The Mandragora Family: The Mandragora Quintet starts with Haste and moves erratically. They can cast status ailments. Each has an exclusive uncommon steal. The Onion Queen drops the Onion, which can be used to unlock the Megalixir Bazaar bundle (requires three Onions).

Topstalk and Pumpkin Star have similar abilities, including Toxify, Bleed, Scream, and Blind, Silence, and Sleep magicks. Topstalk's normal attacks inflict Disable, while Pumpkin Star's inflict Confuse.

Mandragora Prince, Onion Queen, and Alraune King have Pollen, which inflicts Sleep, Slow, and Poison. Onion Queen's normal attacks inflict Silence and she can cast Curaga, Protect, Shell, and Vespersong. Mandragora Prince's normal attacks inflict Sleep and he can cast Cura, Esuna, and Warsong. Alraune King's normal attacks inflict Sap.

Each Mandragora is weak to a different element and susceptible to a specific ailment: Topstalk (water, Blind), Pumpkin Star (ice, Sleep), Mandragora Prince (fire, Stop and Blind), Onion Queen (earth, Silence), and Alraune King (wind, Oil).

Prioritize defeating Pumpkin Star first due to its Confuse ability, followed by Topstalk for its Disable ability. Alraune King is the least threatening. Prepare gambits for Silence and Sleep, as they are common ailments.

After defeating the Mandragora Family, proceed through either door to The Acolyte’s Burden. Take the eastern corridor to find a one-time chest.
