Explore the Dalmasca Estersand. You will encounter various creatures and find scattered loot.

Enemies like Cactites (docile, green HP bar) and Wolves (hostile, red HP bar) are common and relatively safe for one-on-one fights.

Cockatrices are found in an alcove to the north and are slightly stronger.

A Wild Saurian prowls in a valley to the northeast; it is docile but currently out of your league. Avoid it to prevent a game over.

Defeating enemies grants XP (experience points) for leveling up and increasing base statistics, and LP (license points) to unlock abilities on your License Board.

Search for urns and chests containing loot such as Potions, Antidotes, and Gil. Lootable objects have a percentage chance to spawn, and their contents are randomly chosen from available items.

If a lootable object does not appear or its contents are not what you desire, leave the area (zone out) and return. Some lootables may not respawn (be brought back to life at a checkpoint after death) immediately.

Enemies and lootable containers generally respawn over time. Enemies typically respawn after you move two screens away and return, while lootables may respawn by simply leaving and re-entering the area.

Utilize Vaan's Steal technick on enemies. Normal enemies have common, uncommon, and rare items that can be stolen.

Stealing from a Wolf commonly yields a Wind Stone (55% drop rate) and uncommonly a Wolf Pelt (10% drop rate). These sell for 35G and 41G respectively.

Stealing from a Cactite commonly yields an Earth Stone (55% drop rate) and uncommonly a Cactus Fruit (10% drop rate). These sell for 35G and 49G respectively.

The rare steal from Cactites is a Broadsword (3% drop rate).

The rare steal from Wolves is a Pointy Hat (3% drop rate).

Successfully stealing 50 times earns the Master Thief trophy (15 LP reward).

Using Technicks 100 times earns the Premier Prestidigitator trophy (15 LP reward).
