Guide to defeating the Rank VI Hunt, Overlord, in Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age. Learn its weaknesses, resistances, and the best strategy to win.

Alright, so you've made it to the Doubt Abandoned zone and picked up a temporary, uncontrollable ally: the Insecure Seeq. Don't worry about him too much; his safety isn't your concern. Your main goal here is to head south until you find a dead-end chamber on the western side of the area, pretty much in the center of the map. That's where you'll find Overlord hanging out.

Overlord is a Rank VI Hunt, and while he's Level 42, he's got a bit more HP than you might expect, clocking in at over 60,000 HP. Be warned, though: once he drops below half health, his defense gets a serious boost. His attack power, however, is already pretty high, so expect him to hit hard with attacks like Lunge, Rage, Smite of Rage, and Tri-Attack. You might want to toss up Bubble and Protect to help soak some of that damage. Also, Overlord's attacks ignore your evasion, so don't bother trying to dodge with Main Gauche or shields.

He's also got a nasty area-of-effect technick called Pyromania that deals fire damage. To counter this, consider equipping some fire-resistant gear like the Adamant Vest, Adamant Hat, Flame Shield, or a Sash. If you've got them, these will really help take the sting out of his fire attacks.

Overlord starts the fight without any buffs, but he'll happily cast Bravery on himself if you give him the chance, making his already strong offense even scarier. The good news is that he's susceptible to Blind, Confuse, Disease, and Silence. Blind and Silence are particularly great for crippling his ability to attack effectively.

Elementally, Overlord takes half damage from most types, but he's weak to Water and actually absorbs Fire. While Aqua spells aren't strong enough to justify a dedicated Black Mage, the Shikari's Iga Blade is a solid choice. If you've got Water Bombs for your Hand-Bomb, those will work wonders too. If all else fails, the Karkata can be a lifesaver by constantly inflicting Confuse, keeping Overlord off-balance.

When you finally defeat Overlord, the Seeq will brag about 'his' victory and tell you to meet him back in Archades for your reward. Head to Bulward's Technicks in Archades to turn in the hunt and claim your prize.
