Phon Coast

The Phon Coast is a region in Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age, divided into two main areas: The Reseta Strand and The Mauleia Strand. This guide covers enemy details, treasure locations, and general navigation for both zones.

The Reseta Strand

This is the first zone encountered in Phon Coast and features a variety of enemies. Pyrolisks are flying enemies that require ranged attacks or magic. Iguions and Mandragoras are docile unless provoked. Follow the southern path from the entrance down to the beach. Head northwest to find an Iguion and a treasure chest that may contain a Bowline Sash. Continue south along the coastline. Near the trees closest to the shore, a treasure chest might hold a Leather Gorget. To the southeast is a transition to Pora-Pora Sands, and to the southwest is The Mauleia Strand. A treasure chest north of the Pora-Pora Sands transition can contain Poison Bombs.

Enemies in The Reseta Strand:

• Mandragora: Docile unless attacked. Weak to fire. Can inflict Blind or Silence with their Scream skill. Drops include Succulent Fruit, Water Magicite, Vanishga Mote, or Platinum Sword. Steals: Water Magicite, Succulent Fruit, or Virgo Gem. Poaching: Succulent Fruit or Virgo Gem.
• Silver Lobo: Stronger wolf enemy, often appears in packs. Can inflict Confuse with Screech. Weak to earth. Drops: Quality Pelt, Wind Magicite, Teleport Stone, or Libra Gem. Steals: Eye Drops, Libra Gem, or Sorcerer’s Habit. Poaching: Quality Pelt.
• Pyrolisk: Flying enemy. Weak to ice. Uses Kamikaze when low on health. Drops: Bundles of Feathers, Storm Magicite, Lightning Fangs, or Taurus Gems. Steals: Bundle of Feathers, Gold Needle, or Balance Mote. Poaching: Bundle of Feathers or Murasame.
• Piranha: Hostile Ichthon family enemy. Attacks on sight. Can inflict Slow with Power Spin. Weak to lightning. Drops: Water Magicite, Eye Drops, Ichthon Scale, or Pisces Gem. Steals: Chronos Tear, Remedy, or Steel Mask. Poaching: Ichthon Scale or Pisces Gem.
• Iguion: Docile toad unless attacked. Uses Regen and HP-restoring magicks. Can inflict Sap. Weak to lightning. Drops: Pointed Horn, Ice Magicite, Eye Drops, or Aries Gem. Steals: Phoenix Down, Aries Gem, or Survival Vest. Poaching: Pointed Horn or Frogspawn.

The Mauleia Strand

This area shares many enemies with The Reseta Strand, but Piranhas are absent. Bangaa Pirates, which are hostile, may replace two Mandragoras. A Rare Game enemy, Apsara, related to Piranhas, can spawn here after defeating ten Piranhas, though it's easier to encounter it in The Vaddu Strand. There are three notable treasures:

• Start from the northern end and follow the eastern edge. A chest near a tree, less than halfway down, may contain an Adamant Hat.
• Continue south and look for a rock surrounded by three trees. Slightly northwest of this rock is a treasure that can contain a pouch of Silent Shot.
• West of the Silent Shot treasure, near a rock on the western edge of the map, is the last treasure, which can contain a Lamia’s Tiara.

The next zone to explore is east, Pora-Pora Sands.
