Complete the Massacre at Mt. Bur-Omisace in final fantasy xii. Learn how to defeat Judge Bergan and obtain the Stone of the Condemner.
- 1Leave the Stilshrine of Miriam and travel north through the Paramina Rift to reach Mt. Bur-Omisace.
- 2Speak with the two merchants present. The Seeq merchant sells new items including the Fuzzy Miter accessory (grants immunity to Petrify), Remedies, and the Bio magick spell (Black Magick 7, deals area-of-effect damage and can inflict Sap). The Hume merchant sells arms and armor, most of which were available in the Stilshrine of Miriam.
- 3Purchase any necessary items, particularly the Bio magick.
- 4Continue through Mt. Bur-Omisale, speaking with refugees, acolytes, and surviving Kiltias to learn about the Archadian invasion and the peril of the Gran Kiltias.
- 5Proceed to the Hall of Light to confront Judge Bergan.
Boss - Judge Bergan
Judge Bergan is encountered near the Gran Kiltias’s throne, accompanied by three lesser Judges positioned to the south. You have time to deal with the lesser Judges before Bergan advances. A single cast of Bio magick, if your Magick Power is high enough, can significantly damage or defeat them. The lesser Judges use technicks like Water Spout and can cast Shell and Protect on Judge Bergan, but they are generally not a major threat if dealt with quickly.
After defeating the lesser Judges, focus on Judge Bergan. He hits hard, comparable to Mateus, with a high combo rate. Each hit can deal around 400 damage, making him dangerous at low health. He favors physical attacks, including a normal strike and a Kick attack, and can use Battle Cry to boost his damage. He can also inflict Blind with melee attacks and counter-attack when struck physically.
Judge Bergan starts with Protect and Shell active; use Dispel to remove these buffs. He is vulnerable to Sleep (which can provide time to steal or eliminate his allies), Blind (reducing his damage output), Immobilize (making him stationary if not engaged in melee), Slow, and Stop. Utilize mages to weaken or neutralize him.

Visions of the Dreamer
- After defeating Judge Bergan, a cutscene (a non-interactive cinematic the game plays automatically) will play showing Mist leaving his body. Al-Cid Margrace appears, injured, and updates the party on Larsa's status.
- Al-Cid requests political action from Ashe, which she declines, opting instead to follow Balthier's advice.
- The party decides to travel to Draklor Laboratories in Archades, the facility responsible for creating manufactured Nethicite. This requires a journey north of Nalbana.
- After the cutscene, you regain control of Vaan outside the Hall of Light.
- Before leaving Mt. Bur-Omisace, speak with an Acolyte at the base of the stairs leading to the Hall of Light. He will inform you about a spirit called “the Condemner” residing in the Stilshrine of Miriam.
- The Acolyte will give you the “Stone of the Condemner” Key Item, which allows access to previously unexplored areas of the Stilshrine.
Tips:
- The Fuzzy Miter accessory, sold by the Seeq merchant, grants immunity to Petrify, which can be useful for future encounters.
- Consider purchasing Bio magick early, as it is effective against the lesser Judges and can be useful in future battles.
- If you struggle against Judge Bergan's physical attacks, ensure your party has Protect active or use Dispel to remove his buffs.
- Status effects like Sleep, Blind, Immobilize, Slow, and Stop can significantly neutralize Judge Bergan.
