Tips
  • Party Composition: A White Mage, a Time Battle Mage, and a strong physical attacker (Knight/Bushi, Shiraki/Foebreaker) are recommended.
  • Buffs/Debuffs: Cast Shell on your party before the fight. Inflicting Berserk on the Mindflayer will significantly reduce its dangerous magic and technick usage, forcing it to use weaker melee attacks. Dispel the Mindflayer at the start of the fight to remove its buffs like Faith and Haste.
  • Mindflayer's Attacks: Be prepared for magicks like Bio, Blizzara, Drain, Fira, and Thundara. Its technicks include Dark Shock (Blind, Sap), Invert (sets HP to current MP), and Time Requiem (Stop). Shell helps mitigate these.
  • Status Effects: The Mindflayer is immune to most status effects and takes half damage from all elements, making magic-based assaults less effective.
  • Mindflayer's Second Wind: If not defeated quickly or if Berserk is removed, it may use Soul Etude to heal itself, followed by Heroes March (buffs itself) and Mystery Waltz (increases its level by 20).
  • Recovery: If a character is afflicted by Stop or other debilitating effects, swap them out with a fresh party member. Use Dispel, Chronos Tears, or Remedies to cure status ailments.
