Alright, so you're back in Balfonheim Port and looking for something a little different? Rikken's got a mini-game for you – a race! It's not exactly a high-stakes competition, more like a friendly jog, but it's a fun distraction. To get started, head to the Saccio Lane area, that's the southwestern-most part of the port. Just chat with Rikken a few times, and he'll eventually ask if you're up for some sport. Say yes, and the race begins!

How to Race:

The core mechanic is super simple: you just need to mash the [X] and [Circle] buttons alternately to keep Vaan moving. Honestly, it's so easy that you might find it easier to just rest your controller on a flat surface and tap the buttons rhythmically. Don't worry too much about complex strategies here; it's more about endurance than skill.

Things to Keep in Mind:

• Random Routes: Vaan's path isn't fixed. Sometimes he'll take a shorter, tighter route to the right, and other times he'll veer left for a wider path. Just go with it!
• Competitor Speed: The other racers can be a bit unpredictable. Some will be slowpokes, while others will be right on your tail, leaving very little room for error.
• No Speed Mode: Unfortunately, you can't use the Speed Mode feature to speed this mini-game up. You'll have to endure the full jog.

Winning races against Rikken nets you random prizes. While many of them are basic healing items you can easily buy anywhere, there are a few interesting motes and items to be had, especially as you climb the tiers. There are a whopping 100 tiers of races, so if you're aiming for completion or just want to see all the rewards, you could be here a while!

Is it Worth It?

Honestly, most of the rewards are pretty basic. You'll get a lot of curatives that you can pick up from any shop. While the Gil rewards can be tempting, especially the larger ones later on, there are definitely more efficient ways to make money in the game. The only real draw might be some of the unique motes and items like the Caramel or Slime Oil. So, if you're not specifically looking to collect everything or just want a quick distraction, you can probably skip this mini-game without missing out on anything crucial.
