Guide to Sky Fortress Bahamut bosses in final fantasy xii, including Gabranth II, Vayne Solidor, Vayne Novus, and The Undying.

Boss - Gabranth II

The rematch against Gabranth retains most of his previous moves: Kick, Lunge, Circle of Judgement, Guilt, and Sentence. At 50% HP, he will use Renew to restore his health, then use the new skill Innocence, which can hit multiple characters for significant damage. As his health drops further, he will Enrage, increasing his attack speed and combo potential. Using Bubble and Decoy on your most defensive character is recommended, as Gabranth will focus on them. Gabranth is susceptible to all elemental attacks, making a Black Mage effective.

Gabranth II Stats:

  • Level: 49
  • Weaknesses: None
  • Resistances: None
  • Immunities: Confuse, Disable, Disease, Doom, Immobilize, Oil, Petrify, Poison, Sap, Sleep, Stop
  • Safety: Yes
  • Drop: N/A
  • Steal: Hi-Potion (55%), X-Potion (10%), Elixir (3%)

After defeating Gabranth II, you can access a console to start the elevator, leading to Vayne and Larsa. Larsa will join your side.

Boss - Vayne Solidor

Vayne Solidor's attacks are primarily physical. Protect is recommended for your tank, especially when combined with Decoy to draw his attention. He uses Lunge, Kick, and Pummel until 50% HP, then uses Mach Wave. At 25% HP, he uses Force of Will, a single-target physical attack. Larsa will assist but can be largely ignored.

Vayne Solidor Stats:

  • Level: 50
  • Weaknesses: None
  • Resistances: None
  • Immunities: Confuse, Disable, Disease, Doom, Immobilize, Oil, Petrify, Poison, Sleep, Slow, Stop
  • Safety: Yes
  • Drop: N/A
  • Steal: N/A

Boss - Vayne Novus

In this form, Vayne is empowered by nethicite and accompanied by five Sephira swords that attack but should be ignored. Equipping Black Belts can help avoid the Immobilize status effect from their normal attacks. Gabranth will join you but cannot be controlled. Vayne Novus uses magickal attacks like Aeroga, Blizzaga, Firaga, Aquaga, and Thundaga. His unique skills include Contempt (medium single-target damage), Inviolable Will (medium-high party damage), and Tree of Sephira (high damage, used when low on health). Dispel his buffs at the start and again when he regains them at 50% HP after a short scene. He can erect a Magick Barrier, requiring physical attacks. Towards the end, he uses Limit Break, increasing his attack speed.

Vayne Novus Stats:

  • Level: 53
  • Weaknesses: None
  • Resistances: Holy (Halves)
  • Immunities: Blind, Confuse, Disable, Disease, Doom, Immobilize, Oil, Petrify, Poison, Sap, Silence, Sleep, Stop
  • Safety: Yes
  • Drop: N/A
  • Steal: N/A

Boss - The Undying

The final boss, The Undying, has approximately 228,000 HP. Its health can be gauged by its palings. After losing 25% HP, it uses a magickal paling, then a physical one after another 25%. At 25% HP remaining, it uses Perfect Defense, becoming immune to all damage for two minutes. The Undying's magicks are piercing. You will need to adjust your strategy to accommodate its defensive phases.

Tips
  • For Gabranth II, use Bubble and Decoy on your tank and exploit his weakness to all elements.
  • Against Vayne Solidor, focus on physical defense buffs like Protect and use Decoy.
  • When fighting Vayne Novus, prioritize dispelling buffs and be ready to switch to physical attacks when he uses Magick Barrier. Equip Black Belts to mitigate Immobilize.
  • For The Undying, adapt your strategy to its magickal and physical palings, and prepare for its Perfect Defense phase.
