Follow this detailed walkthrough for Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age's Rabanastre section, covering Garamsythe Waterway, Migelo's Chore, and the introduction to Hunts and Licenses.
Walkthrough
- 1Begin in the Garamsythe Waterway as Vaan. Your first task is to kill three Dire Rats. You have no magick or allies at this point, but the rats attack one at a time and are easily defeated.
- 2After defeating the Dire Rats, Kytes will congratulate you. You will then leave the sewers and witness a cutscene depicting the Archadian occupation of Rabanastre and Vaan's animosity towards the empire. Penelo will appear, extort a tax from Vaan, and suggest he speak with Migelo for work.
- 3You will find yourself on a bridge in Rabanastre's East End. The path west is blocked by Imperials. Head east.
- 4Explore the East End; you can speak with various NPCs to learn about the Imperial presence and Migelo's involvement, though this information is not critical to progression.
- 5Make your way east off the bridge to a more open area. You'll notice shops like Yugri's Magicks to the north. Continue south until you find Migelo.
- 6Migelo will task you with finding Kytes and getting him back to work.
- 7Return north to the clearing, then continue north to find the Sandsea establishment.
- 8Enter the Sandsea and find Kytes, who is preoccupied with a notice board. Vaan decides that hunting beasts in the desert sounds more appealing than being a courier.
- 9Tomaj, another Rabanastran, will appear and introduce you to the concept of monster hunting.
Tutorials - Hunts and License:
- You can find outstanding bounties on notice boards, posted by petitioners seeking help with a 'Mark' (a monster). The process involves finding a notice, talking to the petitioner, hunting the Mark, and returning for a reward.
- Tomaj will give you a Clan Primer, an Orrachea Armlet, and a Writ of Passage to help you get started.
- The Clan Primer (accessible in the Party Menu) allows you to view current and past Hunts, an in-game Bestiary, and Traveler's Tips.
- Clan Points (CP) are earned by defeating monsters, especially Marks, and contribute to your Clan Rank.
- The Hunts menu shows available bounties. You can view the location of petitioners or creatures by pressing [Square] in their respective hunt menus.
- The Bestiary records all enemies you have slain. Completing it is necessary for the Scrivener trophy. The 'Need' column indicates how many of a specific monster must be killed to unlock the second page of its Bestiary entry (which contains flavor text).
- Traveler's Tips is a log of previously given tutorials.
- The Orrachea Armlet cannot be used yet as you lack the necessary license.
- Licenses are required to use equipment, cast magick, use technicks, and activate passive abilities. License Points (LP) are earned by defeating enemies and are used to activate licenses on the License Board.
Tips
- You can attempt to steal from the Dire Rats in the Garamsythe Waterway.
- Pay attention to the notice boards for available hunts.
