Recruit friendly monsters in Dragon Quest III using the Monster Wrangler, items like Musk, or abilities like Padfoot. Unlock abilities and compete in arenas.

Throughout the world there will be various Friendly Monsters that you can recruit into your ranks. These monsters are used to unlock new Monster Wrangler abilities, gain rewards, and compete in the Monster Arenas. All Friendly Monsters can be easily recruited with the Monster Wrangler. If you do not have a Monster Wrangler then you may need items like Musk, Fading Jenny or the Thief ability Padfoot to capture Friendly Monsters. Some monsters are disguised as Humans and require Ra's Mirror to capture. Finally, since the game has a Day/Night cycle, some Friendly Monsters may be found during specific times of day.

There are two main components in regards to Friendly Monsters: Their Name and Species. In regards to the guide, focus more on the Species than the Name. I am unsure exactly how the naming works but I do know that a monster found in an area may have a different name than what you find. As long as it is the same Species then you are find.

You may find many different Friendly Monsters of the same Species (ie: There are five Slimes). You will not see all these different Friendly Monsters in the Arena Monster List. Instead, you will see each Species and a list of each Friendly Monster you found for the Species. As you find more Friendly Monsters of a given Species, the Species will level up and learn new Spells/Abilities.

Below is the Friendly Monster List based on when you find the Friendly Monster in the guide.
