Alright, so you've just finished up with the wedding festivities and bam! You and Hans Capon find yourselves in a bit of a pickle, locked up in Trosky Castle. This quest, 'For Whom the Bell Tolls,' is the 6th main quest and it kicks off right after 'Wedding Crashers.' Important Heads-Up: This is a timed quest, and you won't have access to your usual gear. Plus, manual saves are off the table, so pay close attention to those auto-saves. Planning your moves and making the most of what you have is key here. ### The Situation So, you and Hans are in the Trosky Castle jail. Hans is getting antsy, but the guards aren't exactly rushing to help. Turns out, Captain Thomas, who was supposed to vouch for you, is down with a fever in the chapel at the top of the Maiden Tower. The castle physician is out of town, so Thomas is in rough shape. ### Your New Job Guard Kroupa isn't letting Hans off easy. He's accused of poaching and is facing the gallows! Kroupa tells Hans to pray, because in twelve tolls of the bell, the priest will come for him. You, on the other hand, get a slightly better deal: you have to work off your debt. The castle folks think Hans is just a madman, not a noble. Kroupa advises you to play dumb and pretend you don't know him. Your initial tasks are to haul sacks of charcoal, then help out the blacksmith, Osina, and do some work by the scaffolding in the outer bailey. ### Getting Inside the Castle To get to Captain Thomas, you'll need to get into the castle. You have a couple of options: 1. Help Chamberlain Ulrich: If you assist Chamberlain Ulrich, he might grant you permission to enter. 2. Sneak In: You can also try to sneak in through a well. ### Helping Captain Thomas Once you reach the chapel, you'll meet Adela, Captain Thomas's sister. Thomas needs something to fight his fever. You have two main ways to get him the medicine: 1. Make a Tonic: You can craft a tonic yourself. 2. Find it in the Crone Tower: Alternatively, you can search for the tonic in the Crone Tower. If you head to the surgeon's workroom there, you might find Katherine. She's a bit tight-lipped, but she might point you towards some needed ingredients. Once you get Thomas the medicine, he'll be able to move. As the final bell tolls, you and Adela will help him out of the tower. ### The Climax Just as Hans is about to be hanged, with the chamberlain insisting he's mad, you and Thomas intervene. The chamberlain isn't convinced, saying Thomas is delirious. But then, just as the executioner is about to kick the log Hans is standing on, Otto von Bergow arrives at the gates. He's injured, but his arrival causes a commotion that might just save Hans at the last second.
