Follow our step-by-step walkthrough to complete the Handsome Charlie side quest in Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, including how to find Charlie and handle the encounter.

Alright, so you're looking to take down Handsome Charlie? This is another one of those bandit quests from Gules, so if you've done the previous one, 'Canker,' you know the drill. First things first, you need to head over to Semine and find Gules. He's usually just standing guard there. If the quest isn't popping up right away, don't worry too much – sometimes you just need to wait a day or two in-game. Just pass the time doing whatever you like, and he should have it for you. Oh, and a quick heads-up: you absolutely *must* have spared Gules during 'The Jaunt' quest. If you didn't, this one won't start.

Once you talk to Gules, he'll fill you in. Handsome Charlie is apparently hanging out with some charcoal burners in the woods near Kerchak Pond. Gules also mentions that Charlie has roped some of these workers into his crew. Here's the kicker: Gules wants you to take out *only* Handsome Charlie and leave the other workers be. So, keep that in mind as you head out.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Head to the Charcoal Burners' Camp: Gules gives you a pretty direct location this time, unlike with Canker. The best way to get there is to fast travel to Vidlak Pond, which is northwest of the Trosky region. From the pond, make your way west and a little south. You'll find the charcoal pits Gules was talking about. It's a really good idea to save your game right about now, just in case.
  2. 2
Find and Confront Handsome Charlie: If you want to do this the 'honorable' way and spare the other workers, you'll need to carefully make your way through the camp. Find Charlie, and then you have two options: either initiate a conversation with him or, if you're feeling stealthy, go for a Stealth Kill.
  3. 3
Skill Checks and Dialogue: If you choose to talk to him, you'll need to pass some skill checks, so having a decent Speech stat will definitely help. When you get the chance to speak, choose the dialogue option: “You don’t want to look like a coward.” This will really get under his skin and convince him to challenge you one-on-one, leaving the other workers out of it.
  4. 4
Defeat Handsome Charlie: Honestly, Charlie is mostly just talk. He's not much of a fighter, so you should be able to take him down pretty easily. If you have your dog, Mutt, with you, send him in to help too. A few solid hits and Charlie will be down for the count.
  5. 5
Loot and Return: Before you leave the camp, make sure you search Charlie's body. You absolutely need to grab Handsome Charlie's hat – you'll have to show this to Gules as proof that you dealt with him.
  6. 6
Report Back to Gules: Head back to Gules at the Semine estate. Show him the hat, and just like with Canker's trophy, you can ask to keep Charlie's hat for yourself. This time around, there's no gold reward, but Gules promises another name for you to hunt down in a few days.
Tips
  • Make sure you save your game before approaching the charcoal burners' camp.
  • Having a good Speech skill will make the dialogue option to challenge Charlie alone much easier to pass.
  • If you have Mutt with you, he can be a great help in quickly dispatching Charlie.
  • Handsome Charlie's Hat (if you request it)
  • Promise of another quest
