Complete "Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader" Chapter 3, Troubling Developments. Learn how to find Yrliet's kin and escape Marazhai's trap.
Walkthrough
- 1Speak with Clementia, who will offer a reward based on which noble house represented you during the Magnae Accessio. She will also inform you that Yrliet requires a personal meeting.
- 2Warning: You will soon be unable to access your voidship. If Yrliet is in your party, she becomes a required party member for upcoming sections. Ensure you have a Tech-Use specialist (Jae or Pasqal). If your main character is not a melee specialist, consider bringing Abelard. If you are pursuing a romance, bring your love interest. Otherwise, be aware that your choices will have lasting consequences.
- 3Whodunit? Bring Argenta to unlock a trophy.
- 4If Yrliet is not in your retinue, speak to Scalander instead and skip to the relevant section. Otherwise, find Yrliet outside your chambers.
- 5In your study, Yrliet will reveal that her kin have taken refuge in the Atlas Reach system. Agree to receive the coordinates from her.
- 6Return to your voidship and speak to Heinrix about the Magnae Accessio, though his explanation may not be satisfying.
- 7Open the Koronus Expanse Map. Travel from Mundus Valancius to Pelium Solitas, then to Litoribum Maledicta, and finally to Atlas Reach via the red route.
- 8Upon arrival in Atlas Reach, Vigdis will report that augurs detect no life but have picked up a faint signal from a vessel orbiting a gas giant. Yrliet will urge you to proceed to the shuttle quickly.
- 9Travel to the Chartist Vessel and board it. Proceed down the passageway to encounter a nervous group of officers. Respond as you see fit; you have walked into a trap set by Marazhai.
- 10Marazhai will inform Yrliet that she will meet her craftworld survivors and that your companions will be handed over to Tervantias the Archmachinator, while he keeps you for his own amusement.
- 11If Yrliet was not in your party: Find Scalander outside your chambers. He will explain that enemies of humanity received aid from a hidden cell of conspirators, and that Voigtvir has been meeting with xenos in a station within the Hundred Dreams Crossroads, presenting an ideal ambush location.
- 12If Yrliet was not in your party: Return to your voidship and travel to the Hundred Dreams Crossroads system. Locate the Plundered Void Station.
- 13If Yrliet was not in your party: Upon arrival at the Plundered Void Station, Scalander will state you have approximately one hour to set up an ambush. Discuss his conversation options; your companions may express reservations about the situation seeming too easy. Head west and find an area suitable for placing tripwires.
- 14If Yrliet was not in your party: Locate a nearby spot to set up an ambush.
- 15If Yrliet was not in your party: Proceed north, then east, and find a control panel to initiate depressurisation. You will unfortunately walk into a trap.
- 16Upon regaining consciousness, Marazhai will gloat, explaining you are there to aid his Kabal, the Reaving Tempest. He believes you were fed intelligence by a rival and your role is to help expose her.
- 17You can tell Marazhai you have a secret his spies missed (Persuasion -50) and state you would never cooperate with Drukhari scum. Marazhai will then push a larva into your face, which burrows into your brain.
- 18You will find yourself in a hallucination on what appears to be your voidship's bridge. Navigate past the twisted bodies of your companions. Approach the throne to face a tribunal with Calcazar and Heinrix presiding.
- 19Heinrix will accuse Theodora of collaborating with xenos, driving her protectorate to apostasy, and hindering the Inquisition and himself from maintaining order in the Expanse. If you have Iconoclast - Adherent, you will have an option to resist the hallucination. Otherwise, attempt a Willpower (+10) check, which is the better option.
- 20Heinrix will use your association with Yrliet as proof of the von Valancius family's loyalty to humanity's enemies. Further evidence of xenos collaboration is your ability to divine the Drukhari's plans, suggesting help from other Drukhari. If you succeeded in the Willpower check and have Iconoclast - Adherent, you will realize the xenos are manipulating you. Otherwise, you will submit to the illusion.
- 21Heinrix will summarise that you invited the Drukhari to your worlds to cause chaos and gain leverage over rivals. You can attempt a Willpower (+10) check to resist the illusion. If successful, Heinrix will warn you not to resist the examination. He will question how you knew enemy ship coordinates and targets every time if the war with the Drukhari was not a hoax.
- 22Heinrix will summon Yrliet as a witness. She will state she found a shard of her craftworld in your chambers, implying your involvement in its destruction, and that she tracked down and eliminated your chief tracker, Achilleas Scalander. If you make a Lore: Imperium (-60) check, you will realize no court in the Imperium would permit a xenos to testify.
- 23Heinrix will invite you to make a final statement. Respond as you wish. You will then awaken from the nightmare to find an Archon named Nazrakhei presiding over a trial of someone named Yrem.
