Pasqal - Abilities and Talents
Pasqal gains the following unique abilities from his origin:
Machine Spirit Banishment
- Cost: 1 AP
- Area of effect: One enemy within a 10-cell radius
- Cooldown: 1
- Effect: Reduces the damage dealt by the target's attacks by (10 + INT bonus)% for 1 round. Targets with the Reject the Flesh feature suffer (5 x INT bonus) shock damage. If the target is a mechanism or machine, it suffers (10 x INT bonus) shock damage and its characteristics are reduced by (2 x INT bonus) until the end of combat.
Machine Spirit Communion
- Cost: 2 AP
- Area of effect: All creatures within a 10-cell radius
- Cooldown: 3
- Effect: The recoil of weapons wielded by allies is reduced by half for (INT bonus) rounds. Enemies suffer a -(2 x INT bonus)% penalty to dodge for (1 + INT bonus) rounds. The recoil of weapons wielded by enemies is increased by half for (INT bonus) rounds. Allies gain a -(2 x INT bonus)% bonus to dodge for (1 + INT bonus) rounds.
He also gains access to a number of unique talents:
- Acceleration Protocols: Pasqal gains +(INT bonus) MP in the first round of combat. Every successful melee attack grants Pasqal +(INT bonus / 2) MP for the next round.
- Aiming Protocols: Pasqal gains +(5 + INT bonus) to Ballistic Skill and +(10 + INT bonus)% to dodge reduction with plasma and melta weapon ranged attacks.
- Close-Up Scanning: Pasqal's melee attacks apply the Machine Spirit Communion effect on all attacked enemies.
- Exposing Communion: Pasqal's attacks and effects of the Expose Weakness ability gain bonuses against enemies under the effects of Machine Spirit Communion as though they had 2 more stacks of exploit.
- Filtering Protocols: When Pasqal uses plasma or melta weapons for the first time in a round, he gains +1 AP.
- Machine Spirit Scan Protocols: Machine Spirit Communion applies 1 stack of exploit on all affected enemies.
- Manipulator Push: Once per round, for a cost of 2 AP, Pasqal can use his mechadendrite to push an adjacent enemy up to 2 cells away, dealing (WS bonus + INT bonus) damage. The attack has (5 x PER bonus)% armour penetration.
- Medicae Mechadendrite: Once per combat, for a cost of 2 AP, Pasqal can use his mechadendrite to restore +(6 + Medicae / 5) wounds to an adjacent ally.
- Overcharge Protocols: Every time Pasqal uses plasma or melta weapons, his damage with these weapons increases by +(5 + INT bonus)%. This effect stacks but if he does not shoot for 1 round, he loses all stacks.
- Prediction Protocols: Pasqal gains +(15 + INT bonus)% to dodge reduction and parry reduction with melee weapons. If an enemy dodges or parries his attack, the bonus is doubled for the next attack against the same enemy.
- Pulse Amplifier: Pasqal's arc rifle shots gain +(INT / 3)% dodge reduction against primary and secondary targets.
- Scanner Mechadendrite: Pasqal gains +10 to Perception.
- Skirmish Protocols: When Pasqal is under the effects of Machine Spirit Communion, his melee attacks deal +(10 + INT bonus)% damage and gain +(10 + INT bonus)% armour penetration.
- Utility Mechadendrite: Pasqal gains +10 to Tech-Use and Demolition.
Plasma Cell Overheating
Since you will likely be using plasma weapons with Pasqal, you should pay attention to the overheat mechanic. Using an overcharge attack with a plasma weapon has a (25 x overheating stacks)% change of causing Plasma Explosion. The explosion deals your weapon damage to all creatures in a 1-cell radius and double damage to yourself. The armour penetration of the explosion is the same as your weapon. Each overcharge attack adds +1 stack of plasma cell overheating and -1 stack is removed at the start of a non-extra turn. Each stack increases damage from the area attack by +5% and from the extra damage attack by +15%. It also increases Plasma Explosion damage by +10%. Something to note is that the underlying implementation is an effect on the wielder not the weapon. This means that you cannot equip two plasma weapons and simply swap between them; if you used an overcharge attack with one, the second is just as likely to explode as the first.
