Guide to the Hunting Grounds in "Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader", including reaching the Nameless Star system and investigating Quetza Temer.

  • If you picked up the Haemonculus's Prism from the Anatomical Opera in Commorragh, Vigdis will report that the tech-priests have managed to partially activate the xeno-artefact which briefly displayed a hologram of a planet in the Langrenn's Belt system, initiating the Haemonculus's Prism rumour.
  • House Orsellio will send you some Holy Gifts cargo along with a data-slate containing a vid-message and some encrypted data. The vid-message is from Regent Aaronto who tells you the Navigators of the House will be holding a Grand Council to decide the fate of Cassia. After hearing the message, order the encrypted data to be decrypted. When you next make a warp jump, Vigdis will report that after decrypting the data, a rebellious machine spirit started to devour it. Order her to display what remains of the decrypted data to receive a message from Elina who wants you to convince Cassia to reject the Atlas and break the shackles binding their house. She ends her message by telling you that she has left you a gift in the Stars of Martianus system. After several more warp jumps, Cassia will come to your study and tell you about visions she has been having of the Atlas and Tisiphone Orsellio. She believes that she can find the way to the Palace of the Atlas if she can recreate Tisiphone's journey. Agree to help her to initiate The Price of Power. You can choose to invite the Orsellio renegades or the Orsellio regent if you like. Alternatively, you can choose to go alone. Cassia tells you to travel to the Orsellio Prophecy System to pick up Tisphone's trail.
  • After another couple of warp jumps, Vigdis will report that the ship was invaded by black creatures emerging from the shadows looking for Marazhai. Marazhai and the enforcers eliminated the creatures but no one has been able to determine how the creatures got on the ship in the first place. If you make a Lore: Xenos (-55) check, you will recognise the creatures as Mandrakes. Vigdis replies that she will strengthen security at key points.
Walkthrough
  1. 1
Your ultimate destination is the Nameless Star system in Winterscale's Realm.
  2. 2
Journey to Trinnitos and from there make a brief diversion to the Cradle of Khepri where you can explore a Smuggler Hideout and unlock a trophy.
  3. 3
Return to Trinnitos and from there make your way up to Telikos Epsilon and Silence of Mer-Segrit.
  4. 4
Continue to Langrenn's Belt where you will find some of Marazhai's kabal remnants along with some elusive pirates.
  5. 5
If you picked up the Haemonculus's Prism, you can also investigate an unidentified beacon on one of the worlds.
  6. 6
Finally, complete your journey to Nameless Star.
  7. 7
When you arrive in the Nameless Star system, Vigdis will report that Calligos Winterscale's flagship is positioned over the southern hemisphere of Quetza Temer.
  8. 8
Idira will pipe up that her door is on this world as well. Reply that you need to take care of Winterscale's flagship first.
  9. 9
Talk to Vigdis again and ask whether this is all she has to report to learn that there is evidence of xenos activity on the planet's surface.
  10. 10
Hail the Emperor's Vow and speak to ship's vox-master, Erbreght ap Daeff. Make an Awareness (+20) check to detect concern behind his tone. Erbreght tells you that Winterscale came to protect his demesne from the xenos invasion. Yrliet believes them to be Crudarach survivors and asks you to help find her kin, initiating Outcast's Duty.
  11. 11
Continue speaking to Erbreght to learn that Winterscale went down to the surface thirty days ago and hasn't been heard from since, initiating the Beheaded Griffon rumour.
  12. 12
Before landing on the planet, investigate an Aeldari Shipwreck to obtain a bunch of Xeno-Artefacts along with a couple of weapons.
  13. 13
Travel to Quetza Temer and select the Forests of Quetza Temer. Yrliet is a required party member. Note that you cannot progress Idira's quest at this time so don't feel obliged to bring her with you.
  14. 14
Take either of the two exits to the north of your landing point.
  15. 15
Navigate the maze of the forest. You have to fight an Aeldari ambush, find Calligos Winterscale and Speaks-With-Gods at the Rendezvous Point, and make your way to the Forest Settlement to have Speak-With-Gods perform a ritual. You might stumble upon the Forest Settlement first, which won't change much. After visiting the settlement and finding Winterscale's hunting party, the routes through the forests will reset. You will always pass through the Scene of the Slaughter map on the way to the next key location.
Tips
  • The forest is a maze with interconnecting exits. Some of these are two-way but others are one way. As far as you can tell, exits do not lead to consistent locations (i.e. the route on one playthrough will be different to the one on the next). The number of exits in any given area will vary as well.
  • You will always pass through the Scene of the Slaughter map on the way to the next key location.
  • Each area in the forest is listed below:
  • Forests of Quetza Temer (Crashed Shuttle): There is a crashed search shuttle in the centre of the area which you can use to recognise this area if you end up here again.
  • Forest of Quetza Temer (Scene of the Slaughter): You will be ambushed by a group of Aeldari vowing revenge against the mon-keigh. You will be fighting a total of five Aeldari Guardians and six Aeldari Rangers. When the enemies are dead, make a note of the pile of butchered Aeldari bodies in the centre of the area.
  • Forests of Quetza Tamer (Abandoned Tanks): Head north from your starting position and clear away a trap and a second a short distance to the east. Make a note of the wrecked tanks in the centre of the area.
  • The Haemonculus's Prism rumour is initiated if you have it.
  • The Price of Power quest is initiated by agreeing to help Cassia recreate Tisiphone's journey.
  • Outcast's Duty is initiated by Yrliet asking you to help find her kin.
  • The Beheaded Griffon rumour is initiated when Erbreght tells you Winterscale went down to the surface thirty days ago and hasn't been heard from since.
  • You can obtain Xeno-Artefacts and weapons from an Aeldari Shipwreck.
