Achieving S Rank in Chapter 3 requires meeting specific criteria for time, enemies defeated, and damage taken. The time limit is the most challenging aspect. The battle has four main objectives, with the third objective often taking the longest as it involves pursuing three enemies. Utilize Orders to have allies engage two enemies while you focus on the third. Quickly destroy the Fire Orbs as they deal significant damage.

Battle Preparations

At the battle preparations screen, you can re-position your characters using the specified button. This is crucial for larger maps where starting positions can be far apart.

Pressing the indicated button allows you to swap characters in and out of your Roster. While all Roster characters are initially deployed, you can also use this to move characters between controllable deployment spots (circle icon) and non-controllable ones (diamond icon). It is recommended to stick with the default controllable characters. Consider character advantages and disadvantages against on-field enemies when making choices. You can also access the Convoy to change a character’s class to Mercenary (sword), Soldier (lance), Fighter (axe, bow, or gauntlet), or Monk (tome), though sticking to default classes is advised for now.

From the Convoy, you can equip the Venin Edge sword received from the previous mission. Select “Convoy,” choose a sword user (like Shez), and use the “Set Equipment” tab to equip it.

Mission 1: Advance on the Throne Room

You begin in the upper right corner of the map. Your first objective is to advance to the Throne Room, located southwest of your starting position. Paths south are initially blocked, leaving a single route. Head west to the Material Storehouse, the first stronghold. Defeat the Stronghold Captain to seize it, which opens the southern paths. Continue to the Throne Room; the mission concludes upon arrival.

Mission 2: Pursue/Defeat Duke Aegir

Upon reaching the Throne Room, Duke Aegir will escape and lock the main gate. You must find an alternate route. Follow the green arrow on the mission order display, heading east, then south through the gardens, and west to the southern gate leading to the map's center.

Tutorials may appear, explaining character-specific weapon/ability properties and the difference between Physical and Magic Attacks. Most weapon types (except Tomes) deal physical damage, while Tomes utilize the Magic stat. This is relevant when encountering an Armored Knight; using a Tome-wielding character is effective against them.

As you proceed towards Duke Aegir, two allies will appear, blocking his escape. The mission objective will update to defeating and capturing Aegir. When you attack him, he will activate Fire Orbs, initiating a side mission.

Side Mission: Seize the Strongholds to Stop the Fire Orbs

Two areas flanking Aegir's location will be firing fireballs. These Fire Orbs deal significant damage and should be dealt with immediately.
