Discover the best adjutants in Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes. Learn how adjutants provide stat boosts, unique abilities, and enhance combat.
In Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, characters can serve as Adjutants, providing support roles even when not actively played. Adjutants grant numerous bonuses to the active character, including stat boosts, access to unique Support and Tactical Abilities, the ability to perform Partner Specials, and the chance to trigger Adjutant Follow-Ups and Adjutant Guards. The Adjutant shares XP with the active unit, offering a way to level up characters you don't actively play. When assigned, the Adjutant becomes a persistent boon, functioning as part of the active unit. If both units are deployed as primary, you can switch roles by pressing + . Otherwise, the Adjutant's role is mostly passive, contributing through Adjutant Follow-Ups, Adjutant Guards, or Warrior Specials.
You can assign an Adjutant by holding the button to open a menu and pressing when the chosen character is nearby. Alternatively, you can assign Adjutants via the battle map. Press , select the desired Adjutant unit, press , move the cursor to the character you want to assign the Adjutant to, and press to open a menu where you can select "Assign as Adjutant." The Adjutant will then move to the other unit and begin functioning as such when close enough.
Adjutant Stat Boosts
Adjutants provide substantial stat boosts to the unit they support. These bonuses depend on the Adjutant's class, the Support Rank between the two characters, and equipped Class Abilities. You can check the class tree in the "Change Class" submenu via the Convoy menu (press a few times to display the correct screen) to see the stats each class boosts as an Adjutant under the "Adjutant Effects" header. More up arrows indicate a greater effect.
Adjutant Unique Support and Tactical Abilities
All characters have three Unique Abilities: Action, Support, and Tactical. When a Support Rank of C or higher is achieved between the active unit and the Adjutant, the Adjutant bestows access to their Support Ability and Tactical Ability to the active unit.
Adjutants and Partner Specials
With an Adjutant assigned, performing a Warrior Special results in the Adjutant contributing to the attack. Both characters appear in the Warrior Special animation, followed by the Adjutant performing their Warrior Special, and then the active unit performs theirs. This effectively provides a "two-for-one" deal on Warrior Specials, significantly boosting damage output. The Warrior Gauge and Warrior Specials function identically to when no Adjutant is assigned.
Adjutant Follow-Ups and Adjutant Guards
When an Adjutant is assigned, a sword and shield icon appears above your HP bar, representing the Adjutant Follow-Up and Adjutant Guard gauges. These gauges fill as you deal damage (and receive damage for the Adjutant Guard gauge). When full, the Adjutant will either attack (Adjutant Follow-Up) or defend (Adjutant Guard). An Adjutant Follow-Up launches an attack after sending a foe flying, knocking them back and exposing their Stun Gauge. An Adjutant Guard automatically steps in to block the next attack that would have hit you.
Which Characters Make the Best Adjutants?
Determining the best Adjutants can be challenging due to the number of characters, but the Dancer class narrows the field. The optimal Adjutant varies based on the character you are playing and their current class. For example, a Strength-focused melee combatant like Dimitri might not need a Gremory to boost their Magic stat, although covering weaknesses like Resistance could be beneficial.
