Learn how to unlock and level up Combat Arts and Magic in Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes. Discover how class mastery and usage affect these powerful abilities.

Combat Arts and Magic are special attacks and abilities in Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes that go beyond basic combos. They include multi-hit attacks, area-of-effect spells, healing, buffs, and debuffs. Combat Arts are tied to specific weapon types and require the character to be in a class that can use that weapon. For example, axe-based Combat Arts can only be used when an axe is equipped. Once learned, a Combat Art can be used by any class that can wield the associated weapon. Magic, on the other hand, is not weapon-dependent. Any tome-bearing class can use learned spells, regardless of the class they were learned in. Hybrid classes like Mortal Savant or Dark Knight allow for a mix of weapon-based Combat Arts and Magic.

Players can only equip two Combat Arts and/or Magic at a time. It's recommended to check the Convoy menu for details on effects, damage, and area of each ability before equipping.

How to Learn New Combat Arts and Magic:

Combat Arts and Magic are primarily learned by leveling up specific classes. Each class has three mastery stars. Characters gain class experience by engaging in battles, which levels up their proficiency in that class. Mastering a class (reaching 3-star proficiency) is necessary to use Seals and promote to higher-tier classes. Mastering a class also rewards players with abilities, potentially including new Combat Arts and Magic at different proficiency tiers. The specific abilities learned vary by character, as not all characters are equally proficient in every class. To speed up class leveling, completing quick, easy battles is effective. While character performance influences class experience gain, characters can be left under AI control in easier maps while stronger characters clear them. Note that the availability of Seals and access to higher-tier classes are progress-gated by the main questline.

How to Level Up Combat Arts and Magic:

Once unlocked, each Combat Art and Magic has its own level. Leveling them up can reduce their Durability cost and intensify their effects. Both are improved through usage, with quantity appearing to matter more than quality. The most efficient way to level them is to find a quick, easy battle and repeatedly use the Combat Arts and Magic you wish to improve.

Durability functions similarly to Magic Points, consuming Durability when Combat Arts and Magic are used.

How to Learn Combat Arts and Magic From Other Characters:

Characters can also learn Combat Arts and Magic from other characters through the adjutant system, provided a C or higher support level is achieved between the vanguard and adjutant, among other conditions. More details can be found in a separate guide.
