    Mission 1: Defeat the Thief
    Start by heading south to face a lone Thief. Tutorial messages may appear. Lock on with R. Use Combat Arts (ZR + A or B) to build the Stun Gauge and trigger a Critical Rush. Defeating the Thief drops a Blue resource pouch, containing materials for cooking and forging.

    Mission 2: Defeat the Thieves
    More enemies appear, including Kostas. Deal with three Thieves blocking the path. The first, to the west, wields a lance; switch to Edelgard (axe-wielder) for an advantage. The second, further west, wields a sword; switch to Dimitri (lance-wielder). The third, to the north, wields an axe and is flying; switch to Claude (bow-user) for an advantage.

    Mission 3: Order Edelgard, Dimitri and Claude to seize strongholds
    After clearing the path, the gate north opens, revealing multiple strongholds (red areas on the mini-map). Open the Orders menu (L), select playable characters with A, and drag them to strongholds where they have an advantage. Direct Dimitri to the north-west stronghold against a sword-wielder. Send Shez to the north stronghold against an axe-wielder. Send Edelgard to the furthest north-east stronghold. Send Claude to the nearby north-east stronghold against a flying enemy.

    Mission 4: Seize the strongholds
    Exit the Orders menu and advance towards the strongholds. You can smash Pots along the way for gold or recovery items. The strongholds are easy to capture, especially when characters are sent to advantageous matchups.

    Mission 5: Defeat Kostas
    Enemy reinforcements appear, followed by the Knights of Seiros led by Alois, who aid you. The final stronghold in the north-east opens, where Kostas is located. Open the Orders menu (L), select Kostas, press A, choose "Other," then "All Out Offensive." This directs all non-controlled allies to attack Kostas. Control Shez yourself, as Kostas is an axe-wielder.

    After the Battle
    You'll be escorted to a base camp. Speak to Alois (in white armor), then to the three house leaders (Edelgard, Dimitri, Claude). You can also speak to other students within their respective houses.
