How to Use Awakenings and Fill the Awakening Gauge

Awakenings in fire emblem warriors three hopes function as a super mode that buffs your character. To enter the Awakened state, you must fill the Awakening Gauge and then press L1 + R1 (PlayStation) / LB + RB (Xbox). While Awakened, all your hits expose an enemy’s Stun Gauge, depleting it as if you had heavy Advantage. Your Adjutant Attack Gauge will not deplete, and your HP cannot be reduced to 0. You can exit the Awakened state by pressing L1 + R1 (PlayStation) / LB + RB (Xbox) again, or by performing a Warrior Special by pressing L2 (PlayStation) / LT (Xbox) while Awakened or if the Awakening Gauge depletes fully.

How to Fill the Awakening Gauge:

1. Dealing damage to enemies, especially via Critical Rushes.
2. Using Adjutant Follow-Ups, which occur periodically if you have an Adjutant assigned.
3. Consuming blue tonics, found when defeating enemy officers or smashing blue pots.

Various Class Abilities can also increase the rate at which the Awakening Gauge fills.

Abilities that Modify Awakenings or the Awakening Gauge:

• Adept Flirt (Sylvain Unique Ability): Increases Awakening Gauge fill rate when an ally of the opposite sex is nearby or is the unit’s adjutant. Available in Lv 1 (slightly), Lv 2 (moderately), and Lv 3 (greatly).
• Ashen Demon (Byleth Unique Ability): Increases damage while Awakened. .
• Distinguished House (Lorenz Unique Ability): Increases Awakening Gauge fill rate when a battalion is deployed. .
• Hunter’s Boon (Sylvain Unique Ability): Restores the Awakening Gauge with each critical hit. .
• Leader’s Acumen (Claude Unique Ability): Increases Awakening Gauge fill rate when attacking enemies launched into the air. .
• Name Drop (Ferdinand Unique Ability): Restores the Awakening Gauge with each enemy commander defeated. .

Note that Class Abilities learned by characters are not universal. For example, not all characters will learn Darting Blow when leveling as a Pegasus Knight, and male characters cannot access the Pegasus Knight class.
