• Arron the Merchant: A more peaceful route is to head to the Druid Grove itself, which is in the northeastern part of the first wilderness area. It sounds like a lot, but you'll need to do most of this anyway to advance the main story and get your companions. Once you're inside the grove, you'll see a bit of a scene with Aradin and Zevlor. After that, just head north to find Arron. He's got shovels and will sell you one for a measly 2 gold coins. That's usually the easiest way!

Once you've got your shovel, using it is pretty straightforward. When you're near buried treasure, your party will automatically try to make those Survival checks. If they succeed, you'll see a little mound of disturbed earth. Just make sure someone in your party has a shovel in their inventory, click on the mound, and voilà – you'll dig up a chest!
