First things first, you need to find Scratch. He's wandering around the Wilderness during Act 1. The best place to look is in the area northeast of the Blighted Village, where he'll be found near his deceased master. If you're having trouble pinpointing his exact spot, head to coordinates X: 80 and Y: 477. Once you find him, you'll need to convince him to join your camp. Here are the dialogue choices that usually do the trick:

• Start by choosing to “Reach out to pet him.”
• Next, “Peer at his collar.”
• Then, you'll have a choice: either say “It’s all right, Scratch. I’m not going to hurt you,” or if you've got the skill, use the “Kneel - you mean no harm” option (this requires an Animal Handling check).
