Baldur's Gate 3 Netherbrain fight guide: Use Hold Monster, Globe of Invulnerability, or Sanctuary to protect your channeler. Kill Netherbrain in 5 turns.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Before reaching the Netherbrain, ensure you have access to powerful spells. Hold Monster can be used on the Emperor or the dragon to grant critical hits to your martial characters. Globe of Invulnerability is excellent for protecting the channeler during Netherstone rituals, ensuring you reach the final phase. Sanctuary is a decent alternative for the channeler, but be wary of splash damage and concentration breaks.
  2. 2
If you have other crowd control (CC) abilities like Mind Blast or Stunning Gaze, use them to stun the dragon, the primary threat, to make it miss turns.
  3. 3
Consider using legendary weapons and armor, though they are not strictly necessary.
  4. 4
If possible, use Voss’s dragon fire to hit at least two Mind Flayers near the crown, as it can deal around 60 HP damage and potentially kill them with movement damage. Alternatively, summon allies near tough enemies to act as action baits.
  5. 5
When the fight begins, be aware of the timer before the Nautiloid arrives. Get into the brain room before it bombards your allies' positions to avoid making battlefield control harder. Spend your first few turns controlling the battlefield and positioning your channeler and damage support. Use summoned allies before the Nautiloid arrives, as they have low HP (around 70 or less) and can be one-shot.
  6. 6
Once inside the brain room, you must hit the Netherbrain for 300 points of damage within 5 turns. Bringing allies into this room is optional.
  7. 7
Focus on dealing damage to the Netherbrain's HP bar. Aim for an average of 60 damage per turn to meet the five-turn timer. High-damage spells, Ki points, Adrenaline Surge actions, and other combos are effective.
Tips
  • Globe of Invulnerability is considered the best spell for protecting the channeler. Orpheus can cast this if allied with him, or it can be found on scrolls or learned by Sorcerers and Wizards.
  • Sanctuary is a good second option for the channeler, but requires careful management of splash damage and concentration. Clerics can typically prepare this spell.
  • Stunning the dragon with CC powers like Mind Blast or Stunning Gaze can significantly ease the fight by making it miss turns.
  • Summon allies or use abilities like Animate Weapon, Creature Undead, or Find Familiar near tough enemies to act as action baits, allowing your channeler and allies to reach the Netherbrain.
  • Be aware that the dragon will target the channeler during the ritual. Globe of Invulnerability protects against all damage sources, while Sanctuary requires attention to splash damage and concentration.
  • If you can get allies into the brain room, they can assist in dealing damage to the Netherbrain.
