Gauntlet of Shar: How to Solve the Statue Puzzle in BG3

Alright, so you've made it to the Gauntlet of Shar and found yourself staring at a big ol' statue of Shar, right? In front of it is an Umbral Gem, and behind it, a door locked with an Arcane Lock. Your goal is to grab that gem and get through the door. Simple enough, but there's a catch: every time you try to get close to the statue, some invisible force just shoves you back! It's because of these hidden runes on the floor around the statue, and you can only see them when it's dark.

The solution isn't *in* the main room, but nearby. Around the big statue chamber, there are four smaller rooms, each with a tomb and, more importantly, a Lever. You'll need to find these four levers. Their rough locations are:

• Northwest (x=-730, y=-830)
• Southwest (x=-730, y=-860)
• Northeast (x=-705, y=-835)
• Southeast (x=-707, y=862)

Your first mission is to pull all these levers. Just be careful, though – there are traps scattered around these smaller rooms, so tread carefully! Once you've pulled all the levers, you'll notice some Mystic Thuribles, which are basically light sources, get lowered. These lights are what's preventing you from seeing the rune rings around the statue. So, go around and snuff out all those lights. Make sure you don't have any light sources yourself either – common culprits are the Light spell or that awesome sword, The Blood of Lathander. If you want to keep things simple, you can also just move all your other party members away from the statue, leaving just one character.

Once the whole area is plunged into darkness, you'll finally see two glowing rune rings on the floor around the statue. These rings aren't fully closed, so you'll need to ungroup your party and carefully guide one character through the rings to reach the Umbral Gem. As soon as you touch it, the Arcane Lock on the door will disappear, letting you continue deeper into the Gauntlet.
