How to Get the Gloves of the Automaton from Barcus Wroot in BG3

Blighted Village: Find Barcus Wroot at the windmill (x=0, y=425). Defeat Fezzerk and his goblins. Pull the "Brake Lever" (NOT the "Break Release Lever") to stop the windmill. Free Barcus from the ropes.

Grymforge: After Barcus mentions his search takes him to the Underdark, you'll find him and other gnomes in trouble with the Cult of the Absolute. You need to free the dark elf Nere from a cave-in using explosives (Smokepowder Bombs or Runepowder from Philomeen).

Important Restrictions: Do not fast travel out of Grymforge more than once (including returning to camp) and do not take a Long Rest.

Avoid fighting duergar upon entering Grymforge, except those near the Underdark - Beach waypoint. Use dialogue checks to pass others.

Conspire with Elder Brithvar to betray Nere after he is freed.

Learn about Philomeen from Sergeant Thrinn or the gnomes.

Encourage Herdmaster Skarjall's rothe to attack nearby duergar, then help defeat Skarjall and his allies. This should not alert other duergar.

Destroy the following Scrying Eye near where you encountered Skarjall to satisfy Elder Brithvar's request to "Blind the Absolute."

Obtain explosives (Runepowder from Philomeen, Smokebomb Satchels behind a secret door, or any Smokepowder Bombs you have) and use them to destroy the cave-in.

When Nere kills the first gnome, intervene with the dialogue option: "Stop! No more innocents will die today, Nere." Elder Brithvar will then help you fight Nere and his cultists.

Defeat Nere. After the fight, succeed at an [Intimidation] or [Persuasion] check with Elder Brithvar to convince him to free the gnomes. Alternatively, fail the check intentionally to fight Brithvar's forces separately, which is easier.

Talk to Barcus Wroot and convince him to join you at your camp.

Last Light Inn: Make your way to the Last Light Inn in the Shadowlands. Find Barcus Wroot inside the inn (x=-55, y=135).
